Position Summary:
Responsible for the delivery of meals, maintaining friendly contacts, and monitoring the health and safety of clients and supervision of the MOW volunteers. Compile and maintain program records and administration in the MOW department to support efficient and quality services for community clients. Assist with Friendly Visiting, Security Check, and health promotion outreach services as needed.
Responsibilities**:**
- Supervision of volunteer drivers and driving staff:
- Provides supervision for all volunteer drivers, conducts orientation for new volunteer drivers and accompanies all new staff and volunteer drivers on a test drive
- Works with the service team, including volunteers, to ensure meals are delivered in timely and caring manner
- Supervises the packaging of meals by drivers before delivery
- Delivers meals and maintains friendly contacts with community clients:
- Delivers meals to community clients in timely manner
- Visits clients briefly, maintains friendly contacts, and encourages healthy eating and healthy living
- Completes the client home safety check form and service agreement when delivering meals
- Maintains service records and reports:
- Completes delivery check lists and submits reports on daily basis
- Collects meals order forms from drivers and inputs clients’ meals data and food labels on weekly basis
- Collects daily food temperature and input data on weekly basis.
- Ensures safety of clients, staff, volunteers, and self:
- Complies with all legislated safety regulations such as Occupational Health and Safety Act and organization and department safety policies including “Client Safety” and “Risk Management” policy statements
- Complies with safety procedures outlined in the Meals On Wheels handbook
Education:****:
- High School graduate with OSSD, or equivalent
- Post-secondary diploma in Social Services or equivalent an asset
Experience & Skills:****:
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License with 3-5 years clean driving abstract.
- Ability to speak Cantonese is a requirement
- Will be required to lift up to 20lbs
- Experience in supervision
- Work or volunteer experience in social services in multi-cultural communities
- Knowledge and experience working with frail or cognitively impaired seniors
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel
- Good customer service manner and observation skills

- Required to work occasional evening or weekend hours.
