About the Role:
Everest Canada is building a dynamic Commercial Property team. We are seeking an experienced and technical Senior Property with a passion for the industry to join our Commercial Property Unit in Canada. Working alongside the national underwriting team you will see accounts from all over Canada. In this role you will report to the Head of Commercial Property at Everest Canada in Toronto. This is a hybrid position with the requirement to be working out of the Toronto office.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Marketing to producers to secure new and renewal business.
- Reviewing of submissions, terms and conditions, statement of values, loss history and catastrophic modeling and conducting appropriate research to determine the degree of risk for each account based upon company Guidelines and underwriting authority granted.
- Coordinating with varied business divisions including Engineering, Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Accounting, Marketing, Regulatory and others internally that support our businesses.
- Determining quote or declination of risk.
- Pricing risk.
- Developing and modifying policy wording in accordance with underwriting authority when the standard forms are not appropriate.
- Actively cross-sell afforded products and services.
- Supporting service standards in delivery of commercial property products and services.
- Working effectively with other integral members of your team.
- Actively work on innovative solutions for clients/broking partners to differentiate Everest Canada’s offering to the industry.
- Mentoring junior underwriting members of the team.
- Active participation, leading and involvement in presentations and special projects as assigned by senior management.
- Participating, organizing, and leading industry conferences, panels, seminars to promote the Everest Commercial Property brand in the marketplace.
Qualifications, Education & Experience:

Minimum 10-15 years of extensive underwriting experience in Commercial Property.

Experience underwriting Large Complex Risks.

In-depth underwriting expertise as it relates to solutions for
- Large multinational clients.
- Wide variety of occupancies including but not limited to manufacturing, heavy manufacturing, real estate and forestry clients
-
Independent operator with the ability to be an open-minded team player with a willingness to actively listen to comprehend unique circumstances that require practical and unique solutions to complex issues.

Robust insured and broker relationships with the ability to effectively target current and prospective contacts to effectively promote offered products.

Bachelor’s Degree with advanced education and / or professional designations including but not limited to CIP, FCIP, CRM preferred. Engineering degree and qualification is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- A person that demonstrates high degree of integrity and embodies the cultural values of Everest.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to work with both internal teams and external brokers as you will work in a team environment, assisting underwriters and / or deal administrators as part of their overall responsibility.
- Outstanding comprehension and work experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bilingual (English/ French) Skills are an asset.
- Excellent organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills.
- Willingness to travel (approximately 25% travel as necessary)
