About the position

Reporting to the Area Manager – Terminals, the Terminal Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all operational and maintenance activities related to the receipt, transfer, storage and shipping of petroleum products at the terminal. The role ensures that operations are performed safely, efficiently and in full compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements and environmental standards. The Supervisor also plays a key leadership role in managing terminal operators, supporting continuous improvement, and maintaining reliable terminal operations on a 24/7 basis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and enforce safety and environmental protection as the top priorities in all terminal operations.
  • Supervise, direct and monitor terminal operators’ daily activities to ensure compliance with established procedures, policies and regulations.
  • Oversee and control the receipt, transfer, storage, tankage and shipping of petroleum products while minimizing losses.
  • Plan and manage employee scheduling to ensure adequate staffing levels aligned with operational requirements.
  • Coordinate, monitor and follow up on preventive maintenance programs, ensuring equipment readiness for maintenance activities.
  • Issue, authorize and control hot and cold work permits, ensuring safe execution of routine and non-routine work.
  • Investigate, document and report incidents and accidents, and participate in root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain, review and validate operational, quality control, inventory and batch-tracking documentation and reports.
  • Coordinate operational activities with Supply, Distribution, Maintenance, Engineering teams and external contractors.
  • Support and oversee terminal projects, including construction activities, reliability initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reliability and profitability.
  • Identify training needs, coordinate training programs and coach terminal operators to ensure competency and compliance.
  • Manage employee performance, support engagement initiatives and foster a strong safety-first culture.
  • Participate in emergency response activities, act as on-call support as required, and ensure emergency preparedness

Qualifications

  • Professional or technical diploma in a related field. Training in terminal operations and safety (e.g. Confined Space Entry, TDG, WHMIS, forklift operations, oil spill response, First Aid, fire fighting, gas detection, etc.), or previous work experience in an industrial or terminal setting.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in terminal or industrial operations, including inventory control, product handling and automated systems.
  • Strong knowledge of OHS rules and environmental regulations applicable to terminal operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience supervising and developing operating staff.
  • Proven ability to solve operational problems and make sound decisions in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Proven ability to make the right decisions during abnormal situations or emergencies.
  • Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Work schedule

  • The position follows a regular schedule of 5 days per week, with 8-hour workdays (40 hours per week)
  • Availability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and on call duty in a 24/7 operation
