Job Description:
- 
Unionized position 
 Tuesday to Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 8:30 pm (30m unpaid break)
- 
Family Shelter, Salvation Army Winnipeg Centre of Hope – Winnipeg, MB R3B 0J8 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 Monitors the environment and clients/residents to ensure safety and security; completes regular client/resident status checks and room searches as required
 Develops and implements case management of assigned clients/residents; assists clients/residents in establishing goals, monitoring progress, and prepares discharge plan
 Maintains and updates all appropriate documentation (including in-out and incident log books) related to clients/residents and initiates any new documentation; complete all reports required by the funder and The Salvation Army
 Provides safe storage and recording of prescribed medications
 Coordinates and facilitates resident programming as required
 Conducts all required shift change procedures prior to and after shift change
 Performs intake and discharge procedures for clients/residents as assigned
 Monitors appropriate behaviour; intervenes in crisis situations, provides emotional support and advocacy as required
 Distributes funds to residents in accordance with established guidelines
 Engages in the development of inter-personal relationships that promote dignity and respect
 Performs required scheduled check-ins of residents on passes in community; escorts residents in the community when necessary and monitors behaviour
 Liaises with Police, funders, court personnel, community agencies, families, and other staff members
 Provides orientation to newly hired staff, volunteers, students
 Performs other duties as assigned

NOTE: Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties. 
 Minimum Education Level Attained:
 The successful job applicant will have completed high school, plus specialized courses of up to six months
 Note: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable
 Special Licenses, Diplomas, Certifications or Requirements:
 The successful applicant will hold/have:
 Diploma or Degree in related social services field
 Current Certification in First Aid/CPR
 Criminal Police Record Check
 Non-violent crisis intervention training
- 
Minimum Prior Related Experience: 
 One year but less than three years of prior related experience, including frontline casework experience in a social service environment.
- 
Physical Effort/Dexterity Required: 
 The performance of the job requires moderate amounts of keyboarding, and performing walk abouts, and occasionally lifting/packing clients/resident’s property/personal effects and engaging in recreational activities.
- 
Concentration Required: 
 The performance of the job requires continuously monitoring the environment, monitoring security cameras and attentiveness when interacting with clients and recording information. The performance of the job requires attentive listening and observation of body language, continuously monitoring the environment, multitasking, and reading.
 Responsibility for Financial Resources:
 The incumbent is involved in minor financial matters regularly or on a relief basis or has responsibility for the wise us of his/her own resources. He/She may be authorized to spend, disburse, or collect small amounts of cash. The incumbent has very little input into the annual budget

Internal Centre of Hope Candidates: All promotions and voluntary transfers are subject to up to ninety (90) calendar day trial period for full-time positions and up to one hundred and twenty (120) calendar days’ trial period for part-time positions. 
 In the event the successful applicant proves unsatisfactory in the position during the probationary period, or if the employee is unable or unwilling to continue to perform the duties of the new job classification, he/she shall be returned to his/her former position, wage or salary rate, without loss of seniority. Any other employee promoted or transferred because of this rearrangement of positions shall also be returned to his/her former position, wage or salary rate, without loss of seniority. Any employee returned to their former position as a result of this clause shall not have access to the grievance and arbitration procedures.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $21.81 to $21.81 with a maximum of $21.81.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
