Position Overview:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Clinical Director is responsible for leading the day-to-day clinical programing in the facility. The position promotes collaborative teamwork, patient satisfaction, professional and clinical skill development of staff, innovative thinking, constructive debate and greater autonomy in decision making.

The role will work closely with and provide leadership to a team of clinicians to ensure excellence in our clinical pathways through the design, implementation and monitoring of clinical best practise and a focus on quality improvement and patient outcomes. The role will lead critical projects focusing on client care and experience.

The preferred candidate has proven and effective leadership skills including crisis management and de-escalation, a commitment to high quality work, patient safety, and best possible outcomes all while demonstrating a strong focus on patient outcomes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing patient records to ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations regarding patient privacy laws
  • Developing strategies to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare facilities
  • Escalates issues to the Leader on-call or Senior Leader on-call where appropriate
  • Participate in after hours on-call coverage on a rotating basis.
  • Ensures follow-up and communication with Manager/Directors on any relevant issues
  • Evaluating staff performance and identifying areas of improvement or concern
  • Ensuring that all regulatory standards are met regarding patient care, safety standards, infection control, etc.
  • Reviewing staffing budgets and recommending changes to management
  • Assist in the identification of developing new markets. Meet with community partners, conduct training sessions, speak at conferences, etc.
  • Overseeing the hiring and training of new staff members and ensuring their performance is compliant with company policies
  • Act as liaison with Admission and Clinical teams to maintain effective communication, so that client treatment, clinical intervention and hospital goals are achieved
  • Responsible for overseeing daily operations and manpower planning, including rostering for programs based on moving census
  • Handle patient and client relations, complaints, and related matters
  • Oversee work processes, policies, directives, and SOPs and deliver high standards of efficiency, service, and quality across all business units
  • Conduct reviews, quality control and drive/lead improvements and enhancements
  • Recruitment, onboarding, training, mentoring and evaluation of staff
  • Budgeting, planning, submission of business proposals, performance management and risk management
  • Project management and execution
  • Audits, compliance, licensing, legal and regulatory
  • Administrative duties such as, setting staff schedules, updating, and maintaining patient records, and being an information resource for patients and healthcare workers
  • Managing the healthcare facility’s policies and procedures, ensuring that clinical best practices are followed, and resolving cases where the clinical program is out of compliance
  • Developing departmental goals and objectives for workers to improve the patient experience and outcomes
  • Recruiting, training, and supervising healthcare workers
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A member of a College of Regulated Health Professionals and an experienced clinician with an advanced clinical degree including a Ph.D., or MSW.
  • Demonstrated expertise in multi-stakeholder collaborations to provide excellent client care.
  • Five years of trauma informed mental health and addictions experience required.
  • Five years progressive management/leadership experience required
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership, team building and mentorship skills in a complex environment
  • Demonstrated superior analytical, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication, consulting, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to learning and continuous quality improvement.
  • Able to adapt, prioritize, exercise initiative, manage pressure, multitask and work independently
  • Flexible and able to attend to matters beyond normal office hours
