Position: Summer Student, Property Management
Term Length: Summer 2026 (May - August)
Work Model: Hybrid – 4 days a week in office
Position Overview
Reporting to the AVP of Atlantic and Quebec Retail Property Management, the summer student will be provided with practical exposure to operations and administration in the context of a fast-paced real estate company, within the Atlantic and Quebec Retail Property Management portfolios. Students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a wide range of matters including accounts payable and purchase order creation, collection of monthly rental payments (receivables), tenant service requests, contract management, tenant communications, e-filing, and data entry.
During this program, you will work and communicate with people across all levels of the organization, while expanding your business network, perform amongst a variety of teams and develop new skillsets and sources of knowledge, and learn and grow as you demonstrate leadership and make connections across our group of companies.
Responsibilities:
- Work with contractors/vendors and ContractorCheck to facilitate and expedite vendor accreditation and renewals
- Coordinate, create and maintain inspection certificates (i.e. fire alarm/sprinkler) to ensure compliance policies are met
- Assist with preparation of documentation for tenders for new and expiring services
- Follow-up with Tenants to obtain current and renewal certificates of insurance
- Assist with creating and maintain tracking for tenant sales, rent reminders, reconciliation of tenant accounts,
- Assist the property management teams with PO creation and invoicing in Nexus
- Assist with report pulling and verification
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary school
- Strong oral and written communication skills (French and English)
- Strong technical skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word)
- Demonstrate ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a demanding environment
