Salary Expectations: grade 6 - 8 commensurate with experience and qualifications (see below for progression through pay grades)

Job Function:
Using the Advice Based model approach, proactively market the organization’s products and services by promoting, upselling and cross selling the full range of lending and investment vehicles with emphasis on retail loans, mortgages, credit card products, lines of credit, registered and non-registered deposit vehicles and sundry services.
Increase wallet share by looking for growth opportunities within assigned membership base. Actively participate in all branch sales campaigns and promotions and play a key role in the organization’s sales-oriented culture by performing all aspects of the mandate.
Maintain a high profile and image as the financial institution of choice in the community by establishing member and non-member client relationships and business contacts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advise current members and potential new members on Credit Union Products and Services (including personal and business accounts, overdraft applications, MasterCard applications, registered and non-registered savings and term deposits) using the Advice Based model approach
- Identify opportunities to promote, upsell and cross sell the Credit Union lending products including loans, mortgages, lines of credit and credit cards
- In concert with the Branch Manager/Assistant Branch Manager, assist with the execution of the branch marketing program to attain loan, deposit, sundry products and member growth within set objectives
- Represent the Credit Union in the community by participating in local business activities and community functions
- Assist with a variety of branch related duties and activities as instructed by the Branch Manager/Assistant Branch Manager
- Enter all information into CRM (sales, referrals, member interactions, information) that provides information to enhance the Credit Union’s opportunity to better serve the membership
- Refer members to Commercial & Agricultural Account Manager and Wealth Management Advisor as opportunities are presented
- Meet set sales objectives for investment and loan growth targets
- Approve and/or decline loans, mortgages and other lending products within the limits of authority as defined by the Credit Union Act, the By-laws and Credit Union Policy
- Interpret the branch operating procedures, lending policies and security requirements and ensure that guidelines are adhered to
- Ensure daily monitoring of the Delinquency Report. Follow up on delinquent accounts up to 30 days, contact members as required and maintain records of action taken in CRM
- Assist with Line of Credit Reviews and processing of required reports
- Negotiate mortgage renewals as required
- Handle member complaints in a courteous, professional manner
- May assist with training and mentoring of other Member Advice Specialists
- May assist the Branch Manager/Assistant Branch Manager with duties such as preparation of the month-end branch reports, assisting with branch operations and supervision of the branch during the Branch Manager/Assistant Branch Manager’s absence
- May be Mutual Fund licensed
- Perform other duties as assigned

Member Advice Specialist Progression Roadmap
Level I (grade 6)
- Minimum 6 months in a branch role
- Demonstrates:
- Commitment to achievement of Level II/III role requirements
- Commitment to achievement of level 8 lending authority limits
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail, thoroughness, and accuracy for auditing, checking and verifying work
- Good knowledge of all retail products (investments, lending, deposit accounts, other)
- Good understanding of banking system, and CRM software
Level II (grade 7)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Member Advice Specialist and:
- Completion of Personal Financial Planning Advice, and Financial Planning I & II courses; or
- Completion of Consumer and Residential Mortgage Lender Accreditation via CCUA; or
- Comparable progression towards PFP/QAFP/CFP designation will also be considered
- Achievement of level 7 lending authority limits
- Mutual funds license may be required
- Demonstrates:
- Results in meeting targets for both sales and service
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid knowledge of all retail products (investments, lending, deposit accounts, other)
- Ability to effectively identify member needs and match appropriate solutions
