The IT Infrastructure System Administrator is a multidisciplinary technical subject matter expert. They contribute to the efficiency and reliability of production information systems hosted in Sonepar’s data centers, backup environments, and cloud platforms.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide Level 3 support for systems and act as a key member of the infrastructure support team.
- Collaborate closely with end users, helpdesk agents, developers, and system analysts; ensure proper oversight, hands‑on troubleshooting, and resolution of priority issues, with clear ownership, escalation, and communication through to final resolution.
- Support physical, virtual (on‑premises), and cloud infrastructures.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for end users and stakeholders regarding system issues and inquiries.
- Log incidents, prioritize resolutions, and manage the backlog by escalating when required; promote best practices in incident and problem management.
- Monitor the overall health, performance, and uptime of production, pre‑production, and test environments.
- Perform routine system configuration changes and upgrades as requested by operations leads.
- Participate in the on‑call rotation, providing availability during evenings and weekends for maintenance windows and critical service outages.
Requirements
- College diploma in Information Technology or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a multisite corporate environment supporting enterprise‑wide infrastructure (data centers, virtualization, centralized storage, and security practices).
- Recommend changes to meet operational and production goals.
- Communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and risk‑aware decision‑making skills when responding to system anomalies.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge to support evolving technologies.
- Make decisions that prevent production environment downtime.
- Identify and implement solutions to remediate issues within supported technologies.
Basic to advanced knowledge of the following technologies:
- Server administration, monitoring, logging
- Office 365 – SharePoint, One Drive, Teams and Exchange
- Microsoft Active Directory Structure (Replication, Group Policies, Permissions, etc.)
- Microsoft EntraID
- Microsoft Azure cloud
- Citrix (client and server configurations)
- Scripting (PowerShell, PowerApps, Power Automate)
- VMWare virtualization (basic knowledge; ability to RDP into a machine)
- Basic Networking
- Basic Microsoft database administration
- DNS, DHCP (Aliases, MX records; understand DHCP reservations, Scope, Leases.)
Language Skills:
- French: required, primary working language
- English: functional bilingual level preferred to support documentation and communication needs
