Description:Course Number and Title: ECO227Y1Y Foundations of Econometrics (Section LEC0101) Course Description: A rigorous introduction to probability and mathematical statistics intended for students in Economics Specialist programs. Probability and estimation theory, sampling distributions, hypotheses testing, multiple regression analysis. Students will learn the tools used in economics and finance to model and address randomness and uncertainty. Estimated course enrolment: 120 Estimated TA support: 335 (contingent upon enrolment and funding) Class Schedule Class Schedule: Monday 13:00-15:00; Wednesday 11:00-13:00 The delivery method for this course is currently in person. Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty or the Department. Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 - April 30, 2027 Salary (per section): $19,994.95 Sessional Lecturer I $21,398.43 Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term $21,398.43 Sessional Lecturer II $21,907.92 Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term $21,907.92 Sessional Lecturer III $22,457.80 Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Minimum qualifications:
PhD in Economics Prior experience teaching this course (or a similar course) at the university level Ability and experience teaching large classes
Preferred qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in teaching over four or more years

Preparation and delivery of lectures in this course Supervision of teaching assistant(s) assigned to course Preparation, supervision and grading of tests and examinations in accordance with University regulations Providing scheduled office hours for academic counseling of students
