Status: Permanent Full Time
Shift Schedule options (subject to change):
-1B120– 4 on / 4 off -1B121– 0.5 FTE, Thursdays and Fridays each week (Temporary Full Time) -1B124– 0500–1530, Monday to Thursday
Position Summary The Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and professional patient care during interfacility and non-emergent transports. This role focuses on delivering high-quality BLS and PCP-level care while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and continuity of care throughout transport. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical competence, communication skills, and professionalism while representing Associated Ambulance within healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient care during interfacility and non-emergent transports
- Perform patient assessments, monitoring, and required interventions within PCP scope of practice
- Safely operate and maintain ambulance vehicles and equipment in accordance with company policies and provincial regulations
- Communicate effectively with sending and receiving healthcare facilities to ensure continuity of care
- Complete patient care records and transfer documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintain a clean, stocked, and service-ready unit
- Participate in orientation, ongoing training, and quality improvement initiatives
- Adhere to all organizational policies, protocols, and safety standards
Qualifications and Documentation The successful applicant(s) will possess the following:
- A valid Primary Care Paramedic practice permit that meets EMS practice requirements in Alberta
- Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics
- A valid Alberta Class 4 Operator’s Licence
- Completion of all mandatory and required training, including MCP and PDIC
Note: For external applicants, Associated Ambulance will provide MCP and required training
- 5-year Driver’s Abstract
- Up-to-date immunizations, including MMR
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Heart and Stroke BLS
- Successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.)
