Accountabilities: Reporting to the Senior Manager, the, we at Emera Energy are looking to hire a Finance Manager into an impactful role, responsible for the following key responsibilities:
- Preparation of EE’s semi-annual forecasts, annual budget and annual long-term forecast
- Review of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
- Oversight of EE’s complex accounting policies and research US GAAP treatment when required
- Review of EE’s quarterly financial disclosure materials for Emera Inc.’s external financial statement and MD&A reporting
- Support of the preparation of EE’s regulatory reports and tax filings
- Oversight of EE’s internal and external control compliance obligations
- Prepare other routine and ad hoc analysis and reports as required
Skills, Competencies and Experience: As the ideal candidate you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and possess or are working towards the desired skills and experience listed below:
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration or related discipline with a minimum 5-7 years related work experience and have completed a professional accounting designation (CPA)
- Strong accounting skill set, preferably with knowledge of US GAAP
- Strong analytical skills; the ability to prioritize and deliver on key initiatives while under tight deadlines; excellent interpersonal and communication skills that allow you to build working relationships within EE and across Emera Inc.
- Experience with financial reporting systems and Excel
- Knowledge of the gas and power markets would be considered an asset but not required
