Hiring the Position of Psychologist or Psychological Associate (10 month) Union/Association: APSSP

Employment Status: Permanent, Full-Time

Work Hours Schedule: 35 hours per week

Psychologist – Annual Salary Range: $94,719 to $110,000

Psychological Associate – Annual Salary Range: $86,059.22 to $100,135.10

Responsibilities As a member of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO), with a Certificate Authorizing Autonomous Practice, this position will provide assessment and consultation services for students presenting with academic, learning, social, emotional and/or behavioural challenges.

Psychologists/Psychological Associates Support School Personnel, Students And Their Families To Promote Learning, Mental Health, And Wellbeing. Under The General Supervision Of The Superintendent Of Education Responsible For Special Education, The Individual Will:

• Provide comprehensive psychological and/or psycho-educational assessment and consultation services to students of all ages with the Board as assigned.
• Consult with school personnel to interpret assessment reports completed by professionals external to the board Collaborate with system and school-based staff regarding student exceptionalities, diagnoses and programming.
• Consult with school personnel and parents regarding the needs of students who are experiencing difficulty in learning.
• Maintain clear, concise, and accurate clinical file documentation, protecting privacy and confidentiality, as per the standards and regulations established by regulatory college and adhering to the board's policies and procedures.
• Remain current on relevant research, best practices, legislation, and professional literature related to school psychology.
• Prepare and provide professional development sessions to promote capacity building for school and system staff.

Skills

• Experience administering psychological assessments measuring intellectual, academic, social, behavioural and emotional/mental health functioning in children and adolescents.
• Excellent Interpersonal skills that help to build strong relationships with students, educators, and community service partners.
• Experience with diagnostic formulation and communication of psychological diagnoses according to accepted diagnostic criteria (e.g., LDAO/LDAC, DSM-V, etc.).
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• The ability to solve complex problems in collaboration with colleagues, supervisors, teaching staff, and administration.
• Ability to independently organize time, effectively prioritize and manage competing demands and execute tasks to meet deadlines.

Psychologist: Qualifications

• Ph.D. in clinical, school, or neuropsychology, with a focus on children and adolescents.
• Current College of Psychologists of Ontario Registration. Preference will be given to candidates with competency declaration in School Psychology.

Psychological Associate:

• A Master’s degree (M.A., M.Ed., or M.Sc.) in applied psychology with a focus on children and adolescents.
• Member of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) in good standing, with a Certificate Authorizing Autonomous Practice.
• Authorized to sign reports and communicate diagnoses independently.
