Mandate

The Senior Marketing Manager, Credit Card Acquisition is responsible for leveraging marketing tactics to supporting the growth of BMO’s North American Retail Payments organization, with specific accountability for growing the Canadian Credit Card portfolio through the acquisition of new BMO credit card customers.

The primary focus of this role will be leading the strategy, design, and execution of mass media credit card acquisition campaigns. The role also requires the successful candidate to manage and optimize BMO’s credit card presence on bmo.com, manage creation and deployment of acquisition collateral in branches, maintain a close cross-functional relationship with internal Business partners, maintain a deep understanding of the Canadian credit card landscape via the collection of competitive intel, and to bring new ideas and strategies to light to continue advancing BMO’s acquisition performance.
Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in managing marketing initiatives and campaigns from concept to execution, typically gained from at least 5-7 years of experience in a product marketing or a media agency role.
  • Experience working with a variety of marketing disciplines, including data-driven or direct marketing, full-funnel paid media, digital marketing, marketing analytics, advertising & creative development, and market research.
  • Experience effectively interpreting paid media results and insights to inform optimization prioritization and decision making.
  • Strong working knowledge of marketing technologies, including but not limited to measurement and tracking platforms like Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics.
  • Minimum of undergraduate degree in marketing, business, commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of the credit card business and the Canadian banking landscape.

  • Financial calculations & performance analyses don’t faze you. You have experience building and sharing regular KPI reports and data visualizations.
  • You’re organized and reliable, with disciplined project & time management skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • You’re a strong and persuasive communicator, in person and in writing, who can effectively leverage documentation and visuals to communicate your ideas and insights to a broad range of stakeholders.
  • You’re passionate about marketing and are a customer champion with the instinctive practice of thinking through the full customer journey coupled with a strong will to fight for the best customer experience.
  • You have deep experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Key Accountabilities

  • Development of initiative-level strategy for marketing campaigns, ensuring they align with overall organizational strategy, effectively maximize opportunities to drive business results, and are consistent with the brand.
  • Manage the setup and tactical execution of marketing campaigns, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including Business partners, agency teams, and channels teams.
  • Monitor best practices and competitor activities, both locally & globally as well as across industries, to understand trends, forecast developments, and identify potential solutions for growth and innovation.
  • Ensure effective and robust tracking and measurement of targeted marketing initiatives, including leveraging measurement outputs to make proactive performance optimization recommendations.
  • Regular engagement with agency partners, ensuring campaigns are delivered on time and reporting is set up and delivered according to campaign measurement framework.
  • Support development of business cases to inform decision-making and obtain approval to execute new programs.
  • Ensure flawless execution of best-in-class marketing communications.
  • Conduct various pre-implementation and post-implementation analyses to estimate/measure campaign/program impact.
  • Report results and outcomes of marketing initiatives to business partners.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deploy primary research, including analyzing results and translating insights into actionable marketing strategies.

Working Conditions

The working environment will be a combination of office environment and working remotely, with expectation of 4 days per week in the office. The job may require limited off-hours work and performance of work under challenging deadlines.
