About the role

CMHA Kelowna is hiring a full-time Community Based Youth Services Team Lead to join the Foundry Kelowna team. The full-time role is 37.5 hours per week, with a typical work week of Monday and Friday, 9am-5pm and Tuesday – Thursday, 11am-7pm.

WHO IS THE COMMUNITY BASED YOUTH SERVICES TEAM LEAD?

The Community Based Youth Services Team Lead is a member of the leadership team at Foundry Kelowna and oversees and coordinates our Youth Navigation, Foundry Outreach Services including Wellness on Wheels, Foundry Works and Education programs. This role will supervise a dedicated team to ensure the smooth operation of these programs, providing outreach and essential supports to individuals facing mental health and/or substance abuse challenges, barriers to employment and/or navigating systems and services. Collaboration with other departments and community partners will be key in delivering comprehensive services.

WHAT DOES THE COMMUNITY BASED YOUTH SERVICES TEAM LEAD DO?

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate and oversee Foundry Satellite sites in surrounding areas within the Central Okanagan from Peachland-Oyama
  • Monitor program outcomes, analyzing data to recommend improvements and assess client care outcomes
  • Manage program budgets, ensuring financial accountability
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, including confidentiality and privacy laws
  • Write reports on programs and services for senior management and funders, including presentations to health and community partners
  • Collaborate with other departments within CMHA and with community partners to identify service gaps and develop solutions
  • Supervise and support Youth Navigation, Foundry Kelowna Outreach Services, FWOW, and Foundry Works to ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Provide training, orientation, and ongoing professional development to enhance staff capabilities
  • Nurture a positive team environment focused on continuous learning, effective communication, and collaboration
  • Respond to staff needs, providing debriefing and support during crisis or critical incidents Community Engagement
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, including healthcare providers, schools, and social service agencies
  • Coordinate and lead engagement strategies to enhance access to services for families and young people
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Social Work, Counselling, Child and Youth Care, or a related field
  • A Minimum 4 years of experience in social services or a related field, with a strong background working with complex clients across youth, adult, and family systems of care.
  • A Minimum of 1+ years of leadership and management experience
  • Reliable vehicle and the ability to travel between facilities and other locations on an occasional basis
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license
  • Criminal Record Check clearance in the Vulnerable Sector
  • Certificates in First Aid, CPR and Naloxone are considered an asset
  • Strong communication skills with a proven ability to foster positive relationships with staff, community partners, and youth
  • Empathy and active listening skills to support individuals in distress
  • Leadership in managing a multidisciplinary team and fostering professional growth
  • Advocacy for individuals with mental health and substance abuse challenges
  • Ability to maintain consistent professional boundaries
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of youth navigation, Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, and mental health and substance abuse issues
  • Knowledge of data analysis and program evaluation methodologies
  • Familiarity with budgeting and expenditure processes
  • Experience in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems (TELUS CHR preferred)
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple responsibilities and setting priorities
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to develop strategies addressing service gaps
  • Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills when dealing with staff and clients
  • Ability to be regularly exposed to individuals who are struggling with and/or recovering from trauma, drug/alcohol use, homelessness, mental health challenges and/or mental illness
