##The Role:

TheSenior Commercial Analystwill be a key member of the Commercial Support team within the Business Development Centre (BDC), which provides above‑ground risk analysis, petroleum agreement evaluation, economic modelling, transaction structuring, and negotiation support for exploration new ventures, M&A activities, and asset divestments aligned with CNOOC International’s growth strategy.

Based full time in ourUxbridgeoffice, reporting to ourSenior Manager – Commercial, the role will contribute to projects across the Europe & Africa region, requiring strong economic modelling capability, negotiation experience, and project execution skills. The position will also collaborate across BDC functions to support strategic planning, detailed industry and transaction analysis, and other cross‑functional activities. The role involves international travel across Europe, Asia, and Africa for face‑to‑face discussions and negotiations, and requires effective engagement with a wide range of internal stakeholders - including BDC teams, affiliates, functional departments, the ELT, and senior leadership of CNOOC International Limited - as well as external partners such as industry companies, joint‑venture partners, investment banks, and government representatives.

##What you will bring:

The role is responsible for gathering and analysing information related to host countries, including policies, fiscal terms, taxation frameworks and project‑relevant risks, and providing well‑supported assessments and recommendations. This includes preparing above‑ground risk assessments in line with company procedures to inform decision‑making throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with the project manager, the role contributes to designing the business framework for new ventures and supports its implementation. A key responsibility is building robust economic models in accordance with BDC guidelines, using a strong understanding of petroleum agreements and fiscal regimes. The position also collaborates with other project team functions to complete economic evaluations and conduct sensitivity analyses across multiple scenarios.

The role plays an active part in commercial execution, supporting contract structuring, negotiations, agreement finalisation, and completion activities. This includes engagement with host‑country governments, participating in communications and approval processes required to progress project opportunities.

In addition to core project responsibilities, the position supports wider BDC activities. As a broad and varied role, it involves working with multiple teams across the Business Development group, providing opportunities for professional growth and exposure to different workflows aligned with the individual’s experience and capabilities.

##Who are we looking for:

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a discipline that develops strong numerical capability, such as Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Engineering. A solid grounding in financial literacy is essential, including the ability to interpret and analyse financial statements, alongside the capability to build economic models directly from petroleum agreements, fiscal terms, and relevant legislation.

A robust knowledge of the upstream oil and gas industry, with extensive understanding of international acquisition and divestment (A&D) practices, fiscal regimes, and related legal frameworks is advantageous. A working knowledge of key industry agreements - such as JOAs, PSCs, farm‑out agreements, and SPAs - is important, as is familiarity with global industry databases including Wood Mackenzie and IHS. Experience participating in, analysing, and building data rooms is also required.

Strong project management and negotiation experience is helpful, and effective interpersonal and communication skills that enable collaboration across diverse functions, cultures, and external partners are a requirement. The role demands someone who is a strong relationship builder across cultures, able to network effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.

The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity, ethical judgement, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment, delivering high‑quality results under pressure. They should be capable of distilling complex issues into clear insights, confidently and respectfully challenging assumptions when necessary. The position suits individuals who value thorough analysis, structured decision‑making, ample input from others within the company, and collaboration with subject‑matter experts, and who are motivated by opportunities to work on a broad range of projects across multiple jurisdictions and asset types.

##CNOOC and You:

In this role, you can participate in ourCompressed Work Schedule (CWS), which offers two Fridays off per month in exchange for an additional 45 minutes of work each day. You will work collaboratively with colleagues in the office fromMonday to Thursday, and from home on a Friday, when not on a CWS day. Additionally, we providefree lunchesfor all employees and direct contractors.
