Posting Period : March 7, 2026 - March 13, 2026 The Medical Laboratory Technician is primarily responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient collection of client specimens from the point of initial contact with the client to data entry, phlebotomy, and to the final preparation of specimens for transportation. These procedures do not require interpretation assessment or the exercise of independent judgment. The procedures are performed under the direct supervision of the Medical Laboratory Technologist.
Skills And Qualifications Required
- Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistants/Technician training program
- Experience in phlebotomy
- Experience in working with elderly clients and individuals with a variety of disabilities an asset
Position Responsibilities
- Obtains blood and urine specimens from inpatients, outpatients, and staff when requested by Occupational Health Services
- Prepares samples and coordinates the referral of specimens to licensed laboratories for analysis and the subsequent distribution of test results
- Supports Point of Care Testing programs
- Helps to maintain equipment, inventory, and a safe working environment in the Laboratory
- Adheres to all departmental and organizational policies, including privacy and security policies
