UNBC is actively recruiting an Information Technology Process Analyst to join the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department on our Prince George campus. We are looking for an individual seeking a challenging opportunity and who is interested in moving the University ahead in its digital transformation objectives. UNBC’s ITS team works with advanced technology and provides an open and supportive team environment where innovative ideas are valued. Current objectives include digital document management; website upgrades; service management; project management; and numerous other highly technical projects.

Reporting to the IT Process Coordinator, the IT Process Analyst is a member of a professional IT Services team supporting academic and administrative departments, with a focus on meeting user needs and improving the efficiency of the University’s operations through system and software solutions. The particular focus in this position is asset management, change management, quality assurance, release management, and stakeholder relations. This position works closely with technical teams and functional areas to coordinate projects to successful completion, such as enterprise software system (Ellucian Banner) upgrades and updates.

Responsibilities Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Performance Management: Monitor and communicate that processes are performing against expectations and provide transparency of performance and conformance;
  • Knowledge Management: Maintain the availability of knowledge to support all process activities and facilitate decision-making. Provide the knowledge required to support all IT staff in their work activities
  • Quality Management: Define and communicate quality requirements in all processes, procedures, and business outcomes. Ensure the consistent delivery of IT solutions and services to meet the quality requirements of the business and satisfy stakeholder needs;
  • Release Management: Successfully implement new IT solutions and services in line with the agreed-on expectations and outcomes. Ensure that the implementation of new solutions and services has the necessary support, from planning to execution to post-implementation support and staff training;
  • Providing technical assistance and release management by working collaboratively with stakeholders, including release planning and communication;
  • Coordinating data quality initiatives such as chairing the Change Management board meetings
  • Working closely with IT staff after a service failure to determine the root causes of a failure, and facilitating and tracking permanent and lasting improvements to prevent future failures;
  • Working closely with other IT staff to ensure product quality, durability, recoverability, and timely delivery of features, bug fixes, and improvements into multiple environments;
  • Assisting the IT Process Coordinator with Cost & Budget Management, Vendor Management, Value Delivery, and Configuration Management as required; and
  • Assisting the Managers of Infrastructure and Enterprise Systems and projects with Application Development Quality as required.

Qualifications

Education & Experience The successful candidate will possess an undergraduate degree or two (2) years of post-secondary education with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience. Education in ITIL, DevOps philosophies, and Change Management is required and will be tested.

Experience or education in the following is required:

  • Recent ITIL foundations training;
  • Excel and other M365 applications;
  • DevOps principles and foundations;
  • FAST and Modern Version of Ellucian Banner;
  • Change management training, education, and experience; and
  • Overseeing Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) and other governance activities associated with IT projects.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Successful coordination of large teams and the ability to change communication style based on the target audience;
  • High standards and the ability to reliably follow through on difficult tasks from a team that has high expectations in terms of work ethic and work quality;
  • Able to work in high-stress complex situations with hard release dates and multiple stakeholders with conflicting requirements;
  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to troubleshoot and problem solve;
  • Proven attention to detail;
  • Willingness to learn new technical concepts, techniques and attain technical certifications; and
  • Advanced communication and documentation skills.

In addition to the above requirements, experience with the following is considered an asset:

  • Using Microsoft Excel for performance budget analysis; and
  • Using Team Dynamix to track and manage incidents, changes, assets, and configuration items.

Salary This position has been classified as an interim Grade 10. The annual salary range for this position is $74,019.40 to $77,058.80 and the normal starting salary will be $74,019.40, pro-rated based on length of term.

Normal hours of work will be 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday; however, some flexibility is required, as generally system maintenance occurs during off-hours
