Company Overview

Welcome to CNOOC International. We are a global energy company and subsidiary of CNOOC Limited with a vision of delivering safe, sustainable energy for all**.**

CNOOC International, the international division of CNOOC Limited, is a global energy company with operations in Asia, Africa, the Americas, the Middle East and Europe. Our successful growth as an upstream oil and gas producer has been achieved by consistently finding and developing world-class assets.

Our business is focused on safely exploring and producing from conventional offshore, unconventional and oil sands assets. As part of the CNOOC Group of companies, which span the entire energy supply chain, our size and capability create a competitive advantage that ensures we deliver long-term value.

In Canada, CNOOC International has oil sands assets in Long Lake, located in northern Alberta just south of Fort McMurray, which is a SAGD and partial Upgrader operation with production capacity of 85,000 barrels of bitumen a day. We also have interest in several other oil sands projects, including Hangingstone, operated by Greenfire Resources Operating Corporation and Syncrude’s oil sands mining upgrading facility. In addition to our oil sands business, we have shale gas land in Northeast British Columbia, a power station in Balzac, Alberta, and interest in a wind farm in southern Alberta. Calgary is our regional corporate office for all North America.

This dynamic role will be instrumental in bridging the gap between site operations and central IT services, serving as the primary liaison for the Oil Sands business unit to ensure high-performance IT delivery, operational safety, and the seamless integration of innovative digital technologies in a high-pressure industrial environment.

Your Background

  • Minimum 7 years of IT support and project experience.
  • Proven experience in IT service and project delivery, with a focus on end user success.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including site operations personnel and senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining focus on safety and operational continuity.
  • Willingness to work on-site in an industrial oil & gas facility environment (including adherence to site safety protocols, PPE requirements, and potential shift or on-call expectations).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
  • Proven experience in Project management, contract management, and Software/Hardware Asset management.

Your Role with Our Team

  • Serve as the primary escalation point and coordinator for all site-related IT incidents and service requests, ensuring timely resolution in line with SLAs and operational priorities.
  • Act as the first point of contact for business units and site leadership on IT needs — capturing requirements, performing initial scoping, and facilitating engagement with central IT teams for new initiatives.
  • Champion the alignment of IT processes with operational needs, promoting standardization, documentation, and knowledge sharing at the site level.
  • Monitor site-specific IT performance metrics, incidents, and trends; proactively escalate systemic issues for root-cause analysis and resolution.
  • Collaborate with on-site operations, maintenance, and functional teams to understand business priorities and ensure IT services enable safe, reliable, and efficient field operations.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and managed service providers to deliver high-quality on-site support while maintaining compliance with company standards and contracts.
  • Support IT asset management, inventory tracking, and compliance activities to ensure hardware, software, and critical equipment are properly maintained and available.
  • Participate in change management for site-impacting IT changes, including risk assessment and stakeholder communication.
  • Promote IT awareness, deliver user training, and drive adoption of modern workplace tools and security best practices among site personnel.
  • Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning with a focus on site-specific requirements.
  • Support the development and execution of the IT Oil Sands OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
  • Collaborate with the Intelligent Oil Sands & IT Modern Workplace teams to deliver innovation and technology improvements to the Oil Sands business.
