About the role:

The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)

is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values

and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures

continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,

understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.

Reporting to the Manager ‑ User Support of the Information Technology Department, the Student's role is to ensure

proper computer operation so that end users can accomplish health‑related and business tasks. This includes

receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user service requests as well as administrative duties

and project work. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and service request tracking tools. The

individual will also give in‑person, hands‑on service at the desktop level.

The Student will be mentored by staff. They will also have guidance from the IT Lead and Manager on site.

Qualifications:

* Knowledge of basic computer hardware

* Experience with desktop operating systems

* Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport‑building, listening, and questioning skills

* Strong documentation skills

* Ability to present ideas in user‑friendly language

* Highly self motivated and directed

* Exceptional customer service orientation

* Experience working in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment

Responsibilities include:

* Record, track, and document the Help Desk request problem‑solving process, including all successful and

unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution

* Perform hands‑on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware,

implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications

* Performing preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of workstations, printers, and peripherals

* Test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved

* Perform post‑resolution follow‑ups to service requests

* Travel to other sites within city limits, may be required

* Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals may be required

Salary Range: $22.000

The Health Sciences Centre strives to ensure the safety and security of the patients, visitors, employees and assets

this position.
