The Operations Department is responsible for overseeing public works including road and infrastructure maintenance ensuring safety and efficiency, as well as resilience in service delivery. We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative leader to join our team as Field Supervisor - Operations (Roads)! In this role you will be responsible for the supervision and activities of the Roads team, as well as:
- Providing superior leadership through coaching, mentoring, change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supervising service area staff including participating on hiring committees, staff training, development, performance management/review, health and safety, collective agreement administration, discipline, and grievance response.
- Coordinating and assigning staff duties and responsibilities, delegating tasks to staff to be completed on a daily basis delivered in a safe and operationally efficient manner; visiting work sites to connect with staff, updating work assignments to ensure staff are working in a health and safety-minded manner.
- Facilitating and overseeing the administration of in-house and consultant administered infrastructure projects including the preparation of design criteria/plans/specifications; preliminary and detailed project material and cost estimates; conducting field inspection and site supervision and evaluating roadway surface and base conditions.
- Supervising the installation and construction of the work site according to contract requirements and verifying compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, the Region’s Health and Safety Policies & Procedures Manual and other Regulatory Agencies (MECP, MNRF, etc.).
- Proactively ensuring that all aspects of Health and Safety required by Town Policies and the Occupational Health and Safety are being actively addressed, monitored and complied with.
- Responding to emergencies, such as floods, power outages, storms, snow/ice, facility alarms and evacuation etc. and assists with emergency response as required.
The preferred candidate holds:
- Completion of post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Certifications or designations would be considered an asset: Certified Road Supervisor (CRS), accreditation through OACETT, or suitable equivalent.
- Minimum of five (5) years of municipal Operations Roads experience, along with three (3) years supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
- Class DZ Driver’s License in good standing and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business and availability to attend evening and/or weekend meetings or other events; and to respond to major emergencies as required.
Closing date is November 9, 2025.
The salary range for this position is $82,630 - $105,462 per annum (Based on a 35-hour week) and the successful candidate will be compensated within this range.
