Network Rail Consulting (NRC) is the international consultancy arm of Network Rail, the owner of Britain’s railway, one of the largest rail operations in the world.

Career opportunities with NRC
We’re looking for rail professionals with expertise in multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, particularly in the following areas:
- Civils – earthworks, structures, and platforms
- Track – alignment, renewals, and permanent way engineering
- Drainage and Lineside – water management, embankments, and culverts
- Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) – design and installation of electrification systems
- High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) – power supply and distribution systems
- Telecoms – fibre and copper networks, GSM-R, and radio systems
- SCADA – supervisory control and data acquisition systems
- Signalling – train control, interlocking, and detection systems
- Systems Safety – assurance, hazard management, and safety case development

Key Skills, Experience & Qualifications
We’re seeking rail professionals who can demonstrate:
- Experience in multidisciplinary environments – integrating Civils, Track, OLE, Signalling, Telecoms, and Power
- Strong technical writing – reports, specifications, and assurance documentation
- Client-facing experience – advising stakeholders and presenting solutions
- Collaborative working – across disciplines, teams, and geographies
- Project delivery skills – managing scope, time, and quality
- Understanding of rail systems – including safety, standards, and operational interfaces
- Problem-solving mindset – with a focus on commercial and engineering outcomes
- Digital proficiency – using tools like CAD, BIM, and project management platforms
