About the Opportunity

We are seeking experienced Production Field Technicians to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a large-scale LNG and natural gas processing facility in British Columbia, Canada. This role is ideal for operations professionals who are passionate about safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement within a world-class industrial environment.

Position Summary

The Production Field Technician is responsible for operating and monitoring process, utility, storage, loading, and unloading systems while supporting maintenance activities and ensuring compliance with all operational and safety standards. Working closely with Control Room Operators and Operations leadership, the successful candidate will perform field inspections, troubleshoot equipment issues, execute operational procedures, and contribute to the overall reliability and performance of the facility. Field Technicians may be assigned to Process Operations, Utilities, Water Treatment, Storage, or Marine Loading Operations, with opportunities for cross-training and career progression across multiple operational disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Plant Performance Safely operate LNG and associated process equipment in accordance with approved operating procedures. Perform equipment start-ups, shutdowns, and process adjustments as required. Conduct routine field inspections and monitor equipment performance. Monitor plant operations using field instrumentation, control systems, and digital operating tools. Identify operational abnormalities and escalate issues to Operations leadership when required. Interpret and apply P&IDs, process flow diagrams, equipment drawings, and technical documentation. Support plant reliability and efficiency through proactive troubleshooting and corrective actions. Maintain accurate shift logs and provide detailed shift handovers. Perform field sampling activities and review laboratory analysis results. Participate in emergency response activities, drills, and incident management processes.

Maintenance Support

Prepare equipment for maintenance through isolation, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), gas testing, and verification of zero-energy states. Issue, verify, and manage work permits in compliance with site safety requirements. Support the safe return of equipment to service following maintenance activities. Create, update, and manage maintenance work orders. Assist in the development of isolation plans, operating procedures, and operational improvements. Maintain high housekeeping standards across operational areas.

Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE)

Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and operational integrity. Adhere to all HSSE policies, procedures, and life-saving rules. Participate in safety meetings, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations. Support control-of-work processes, including permit-to-work systems, gas testing, and atmospheric monitoring. Inspect and verify safety-critical equipment in accordance with established schedules. Actively contribute to a positive and proactive safety culture.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial plant operations. Experience within LNG, natural gas processing, oil & gas, petrochemical, utilities, water treatment, storage & loading, or related industries. 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate (with firing time) or higher. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Proven ability to respond effectively to operational upsets and process interruptions. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Preferred

Environmental Operators Certification Level 2. Commissioning and start-up experience within industrial facilities. NFPA 1001, NFPA 1081, or equivalent emergency response certifications. Experience working in large-scale energy, LNG, or industrial processing facilities.

Physical & Work Requirements

Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions. Comfortable working at heights, climbing ladders, and entering confined spaces. Ability to safely lift and carry up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Ability to wear respiratory protection and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). Willingness to participate in an Emergency Response Team (ERT) program and complete required fitness assessments. Successful completion of pre-employment medical, fitness-for-duty, and substance testing requirements.
