Environmental Service Labourer – Waste Management, Summer Student

Salary Range:$19.60 - $21.10 hourly
**Hours of Work:**40 hours per week
**Classification:**Student
**Status:**Temporary full-time up to 4 months

The Opportunity: Each year, the District hires a number of post-secondary students to assist with our seasonal summer
operations. This is a great opportunity for students to develop transferable skills, support career goals and
learn more about the District Municipality of Muskoka! Summer employment opportunities are temporary, full-
time positions commencing the first week of May and continue through to the end of August. In this position,
you are responsible for assisting with clean up and operation of solid waste, recycling, hazardous waste, and
electronic diversion sites throughout Muskoka.
What you will do:

Using a District vehicle to drive across Muskoka;
-
Assist site attendants at landfills and transfer sites;
-
Pick-up refuse, debris and large objects at District solid waste sites throughout Muskoka;
-
Clean-up operations and grounds maintenance;
-
Assist in special collections on selected weekends;
-
Deliver flyers, conduct surveys, and assist in education of public on solid waste or recycling programs as
required;
- Work safely and in compliance with relevant statutes and regulations and within the safe work procedures
and directives as established by the District.

Other related duties as assigned.
What you will need:
-
Good interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and excellent communication skills are required.
-
General computer skills would be beneficial.
-
Ability to lift moderate loads and operate yard maintenance equipment would be desirable.

A valid Ontario Driver’s License (minimum Class G2) will be required.

Will involve working every other weekend including long weekends.
-
Students must be enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies for the following school year with proof of
enrolment provided to the Human Resources department when requested.
