About the role
Job Description Under the supervision of the Food Service Manager / Food Service Supervisor, the Dietary Aide is responsible and accountable for the delivery and service of meals and nourishments and the preparation of dietary areas.
Job Responsibilities
- Follow established policies, procedures, work systems and cleaning procedures to meet regulatory requirements.
- Ensures food is prepared and served in accordance with health and food guidelines
- Uses all dietary equipment with competence.
- Participation in meal presentation.
- Works cooperatively with the interdisciplinary team.
- Assists in planning and organizing food preparation to ensure all meals and snacks are served on time, at an appropriate temperature, texture and quantity.
- Cleans cares for and stores equipment properly in designated areas after each use.
- Responsible for reporting any required repair work or deficiency in the environment.
- Delivers and serves meals according to residents assessed needs.
- Assists with dining room clean-up.
- Assists in preparing the food and the environment for all special events.
- Participates on various facility and department committees as required.
Qualifications
- Have a successfully completed or are enrolled in a Food service worker program at a established under Ontario college of applied arts and technology act, 2002 or one that is provided by a private career college and approved by the Superintendent of private career colleges under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005 as required under the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021 ss 79 and Ontario regulation 84/22 (1) preferred.
- Appropriate food service experience, skill and knowledge in fields of institutional, health care setting is an asset.
- A valid Safe Food Handler?s Certificate preferred.
- Experience in a Long term care setting is an asset.
- Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
