Film and Video Editors (Part-Time / Contract)

1. About the Role

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research lab to engage experienced Film and Video Editors in a high-impact project designed to enhance AI understanding of video production, editing, and post-production workflows.

In this role, you’ll contribute your creative and technical expertise to train and refine next-generation AI systems that learn from real-world editing techniques. You’ll work independently and remotely, supporting research that improves how AI comprehends narrative structure, pacing, and visual storytelling in video content.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Create structured deliverables and examples that represent common workflows and challenges in professional video editing.
• Review and provide feedback on peer-developed deliverables to enhance research quality and consistency.
• Ensure all submitted work meets industry standards for editing precision, storytelling, and visual coherence.
• Contribute insights that help AI researchers understand creative decision-making in post-production processes.

3. Ideal Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in film or video editing , post-production, or multimedia content creation.
• Strong technical proficiency in editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Avid Media Composer ).
• Deep understanding of storytelling, pacing, transitions, and visual rhythm .
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills, with strong grammar and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.

4. More About the Opportunity

• Location: Fully remote and asynchronous — work on your own schedule.
• Expected Workload: ~30 hours per week, with flexibility to scale up to 40 hours.
• Duration: 3–4 weeks (potential extensions based on project performance).
• Start Date: Immediate.

5. Compensation & Contract Terms

• Hourly Rate: $60–$80 USD/hour (depending on experience and project scope).
• Classification: Independent Contractor.
• Payments: Weekly via Stripe Connect for completed work.
• Work Autonomy: Contractors maintain full control over work hours, tools, and delivery methods.
