Finance Manager/Controller

Compensation: $130K - $140K base + bonus (based on experience)
About the Opportunity
A fast-scaling company in the Greater Toronto Area is adding a Controller to its finance team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who's comfortable wearing multiple hats in a high-growth environment — think start-up energy paired with real accounting rigor. You'll need to be equal parts technician and communicator: sharp with the numbers, but just as confident explaining them to executives and investors. Discretion, reliability, and a builder's mentality are key, since you'll be helping shape finance infrastructure as the company expands.
Core Duties
Run the accounting engine: accounts payable, expense management, and general ledger upkeep Own the monthly close cycle — reconciliations, budget tracking, and variance reporting Translate financial data into clear takeaways for senior leadership Manage relationships and timelines around audits and tax filings Work cross-functionally with HR and operations to build smarter, more scalable finance workflows
Ideal Background
Accounting or Finance degree, plus 6+ years in progressively responsible finance roles (8-12 years is the sweet spot) Deep familiarity with GAAP, reporting standards, and budget/variance analysis CPA or CFA a strong plus; prior exposure to PE, investment banking, or public accounting is a bonus Polished communicator — able to present to leadership and investors with confidence Track record of handling sensitive financial data with integrity and good judgment
