Summary of Responsibilities
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Technical Training Manager - Motorsports & PTV to lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the corporate/dealer/B2B technical training program. The Technical Training Manager – Motorsports & PTV will be responsible for developing and implementing training strategies that ensure each technician and team member possesses the necessary skills to uphold the Yamaha brand name. This includes theoretical and hands-on diagnostic, maintenance and repair procedures and is delivered in a wide range of blended learning options.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, coordinate, and plan all motorsport & PTV technical training programs (timing, resources, cost). Be the main point of contact for motorsport & PTV technical training.

Design and deliver learning programs that will support corporate, dealer and B2B in conjunction with key stakeholders within Canada, USA and Japan. This also encompasses the review, maintenance, and development of curricula, individual courses, and technical education methods. Support train-the-trainer events, coaching and cross training.

Manage framework for motorsport & PTV technical certification requirements including design of the certification path. Responsible for all reporting including maintaining training records, certifications, fill rate and monthly/annual/ad hoc reports. Deliver annual business plan, which outlines a clear motorsport and PTV technical training strategy. Support corporate/dealer/B2B inquiries.

Management and oversight of Motorsport & PTV academy supplies used for technical training (tools, equipment, diagnostic equipment, training fleet, etc.). Develop and maintain a venue selection and booking process for all Motorsport & PTV technical training instructor-led training courses delivered. In partnership with the Technical Training Manager – Marine, management of the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the training centre along with accurate scheduling and maintenance of classes.

Participate in product planning committee meetings, representing motorsport & PTV technical training. Partner with Technical Specialists, DSGs, RTMs, dealer/B2B technicians to support training initiatives including the TechGP/WGP program. Work with technical schools and Skills Canada to enhance the Yamaha brand through product donation programs, development of training curriculum, training facilitation and more.
Education Requirements and/or Experience Requirements

Degree/Diploma: Post-secondary diploma/degree or equivalent work experience

Program of Study: Prefer technical designation

Years of Experience:
- 3+ years technical Motorsport & PTV retail/wholesale experience
- 2+ year instructional design and delivery

Type of Experience: Motorsport & PTV industry experience

Licenses: Valid auto driver’s license & M class license (motorcycle license)
Skills and Abilities

Common technician skills – Correct use of hand and power tools, safe workshop practices

Excellent understanding of Motorsports & PTV technology and repair, Yamaha products preferred

Training creation (including ILT, video based and web-based)

Ability to manage time and work with minimal supervision while meeting objectives

Skilled at managing multiple priorities and handling multiple tasks

Ability to clearly communicate goals and objectives

Ability to work co-operatively within a team environment

Computer skills required: Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, LMS

Advanced operator skills for assigned products

Willingness to travel internationally as required

Proven ability to be an effective team leader and collaborator

Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, presentation and written) in English & French (preferred) Comfortable with public speaking and leading group sessions (including labs)
