About the role
Job Description As our Senior Manager Project Execution, you will be responsible for all capital and expense projects within the Saint John refinery, as well as providing agile support to strategic projects across other business areas. Your goal will be to lead a team of dedicated Project Managers and frequently collaborate with our Project Controls, Portfolio Management, Turnaround, Supply & Terminals, and Business Development teams to ensure we are managing safe, environmentally sound and efficient projects. Your success will be to “Design and Construct” management system elements for project execution and ensuring fit for purpose best practices are developed and consistently employed across each category of projects.

Your Responsibilities
- Lead the integration of all disciplines participating in the development of project plans including scope, schedule, budget and alignment to company strategy
- Determine the discipline and resources allocation for detailed planning and execution of a $250M - $400M per year sustaining capital program
- Foster a collaborative teamwork environment delivering integrated project plans and management of change for detailed engineering, procurement and contracting, fabrication and construction, and commissioning/ startup of projects
- Maintain leadership accountability for stakeholder engagement, reporting of project performance in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) phases
- Act as a key participant and advisor in Front End Loading (FEL) phases of business case and project conceptual development on critical decisions to ensure understanding and commitment to EPC strategies and execution
- Lead the continuous development and improvement of Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) on areas of people/culture, technology, policies and work practices to deliver projects consistent with industry benchmarks, best practices with fit for purpose solutions, for the develop and execute phases of projects, including the current Project Procedures Manual (PPM)
- Administer responsibility and leadership to Project Managers for Turnaround, Major, Sustaining and non-refinery projects
- Establish, educate and apply a standard fit for purpose of all projects with the intent to most effectively manage scope, schedule, budget and startup and safety risk
- Assign appropriately experienced and skilled Project Manager to specific projects or work areas
- Participate in Portfolio Management strategy development, and project execution change management as portfolio needs, opportunities develop
- Ensure Program and Project Execution Risk/Opportunity Registry is actively managed and stewarded to
Your Skills
- Strong sense of responsibility and accountability associated with ensuring safe and environmentally compliant operations
- Open to change and proven experiences of taking on challenging change initiatives within teams and organizations
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and collaborate with cross functional teams
- Effective communication with all levels within organization and ability to influence stakeholders
- Ability to deal with short term priorities without losing focus on long term initiatives
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude
- Ability to easily adapt to changing priorities and break-in work activities
Your Experience
- University degree in Engineering required. MBA or equivalent considered an asset
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in refinery environment with 7-10 years of progressive management experience in Project Management
- Field-based construction experience within a refinery or oil and gas facility preferred
- Project Management Professional designation is an asset but not a requirement
