Certified HVAC Technician
About the role
We are now accepting applications for a Certified HVAC Technician to support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across Division facilities. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Daily tasks will require a variety of skills and responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Diagnose HVAC issues and complete repairs from start to finish, including troubleshooting, repair, testing, and close-out
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and performance checks on HVAC systems and equipment
- Maintain, service, and repair furnaces, boilers (non-licensed operation), air handling units, rooftop units, VAV systems, and ventilation equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, controls, sensors, thermostats, dampers, and related mechanical components
- Perform seasonal start-ups/shutdowns and maintain heating/cooling system readiness
- Test and balance airflow and ventilation performance as required
- Coordinate work with custodial staff, school administrators, contractors, and other trades to reduce disruption to school operations
- Maintain service documentation including work orders, inspection records, and parts/equipment used
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with applicable codes, safety regulations, and Division procedures
- Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicle (if assigned) in safe working condition
- Identify recurring mechanical issues and provide recommendations for repair planning, replacement, and efficiency improvements
- Support capital projects and renovations by providing HVAC expertise and technical recommendations
- Participate in call-in after-hours response (if required)
- Additional responsibilities as required, in alignment with evolving organizational priorities and to ensure the continued effectiveness of divisional operations.
