About the role

Job Title: Part-Time House Manager Location: Memramcook, New Brunswick, E4K 3Y5 Employment Type: Part-time, 18-22 hours per week (18 guaranteed) Schedule: Monday through Wednesday, 9:00 AM- 3:00 PM. Occasional cottage prep days requiring a 45-minute drive may substitute for a regular workday. Compensation: $33–$38/hour Start Date: End of August / first week of September Requirements Maintain a smoke-free environment. Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license required Comfortable with cats Fragrance-free or very light fragrance only Must be authorized to work in Canada. About Our Family We’re a busy, warm, always-in-motion family of four with two school-age kids, a long-time senior cat (17 years and counting), and a household that runs best when everything has a place and a plan. We spend most weekdays working on-site, so the house is usually quiet during the day. Come late afternoon, though, it shifts into “sports mode” (think backpacks, gear, and quick turnarounds) and we love walking in the door to a calm, reset home. We’ve put strong systems in place and we’re proud of how smoothly they work. We’re not looking for someone to reinvent our routines — we’re looking for someone who enjoys stepping into an organized home, taking ownership, and keeping things running beautifully and consistently. In the summer we spend a lot of time at our cottage about 45 minutes away, and there’s nothing better than arriving at a space that’s clean, stocked, and ready for family time. We value reliability, attention to detail, and a low-maintenance working relationship built on trust and clear communication. Speaking French is a bonus (it’s part of our community and day-to-day life), but it’s not required. Who You Are / What We're Looking For You are a naturally organized, self-directed professional who takes ownership of your work without needing check-ins or reminders. You are the kind of person who notices what needs to be done and handles it — whether that means restocking supplies before they run out, anticipating what the family will need before a busy week, or quietly keeping household systems running the way they were designed to. You are Type A in the best way: detail-oriented, proactive, and consistent. You communicate clearly when something needs the family's attention, and you know when to just handle it yourself. You genuinely enjoy working in a home environment, you are comfortable around animals, and you take pride in the quality of your work. Experience in a similar household role is a plus, but we are open to motivated candidates who are new to the profession. Key Responsibilities Household Organization & Maintenance Maintain existing household organization systems with precision and consistency Complete daily resets: dishes, surfaces, light tidying, and vacuuming high-traffic areas Manage seasonal swaps of clothing, bedding, and decor Coordinate donation drop-offs Prepare the home for events, holidays, and guests, including occasional cottage and RV prep Unpack and put away items after family trips Care for indoor plants Replace batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors as needed Deep Cleaning & Special Projects Complete periodic deep-cleaning projects and seasonal household resets Proactively identify areas of the home that require attention and maintain a consistently polished environment Refresh entryway, laundry room/cat area and playroom areas on a regular basis Clean and maintain air purifiers Laundry & Linens Wash, fold, and organize all household laundry Complete weekly bedding and towel rotation Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked Occasional dry cleaning pickup and drop-off Inventory & Errands In-person grocery shopping, with some online ordering as needed Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies; manage running shopping lists Manage household subscriptions and orders (Amazon, Costco) Handle packages: open deliveries, put items away, break down and recycle boxes Assist with returns, gift shopping, and other household errands Meal Support Prep 2–3 dinners per week in accordance with family’s weekly meal plan (component prep and recipe execution as directed) Weekly batch prep of granola bars and energy bites Wash and prep fresh produce for the week Prep snacks and assist with getting dinner components started on busy evenings Maintain a clean and organized kitchen Family Support Prepare after-school snacks, backpacks, and sports gear Provide light supervision or back-up childcare as needed, approximately one hour per day Support kids in completing their own assigned household tasks (beds, tidying) Provide occasional child transportation for appointments as needed Access and maintain visibility into the family's calendar to coordinate household scheduling Pet Care Clean litter box, water bowl, and change filters weekly Restock pet food and supplies Vendor & Property Oversight Keep outdoor spaces tidy and functional through seasonal transitions; bring in/out furniture and cushions Ensure the family cottage is clean, stocked, and ready for family use when visits are planned Alert family to any property maintenance needs How to Apply: If you’re interested, please apply with the following: A brief letter explaining why you would be a great fit for this position Your updated resume At least 3 references with contact information Note: This role requires a background check.
