Summary
McCrum’s Senior Lead Hand is the most experience leader in deliver and Installation team and is responsible for ensuring projects are installed safely, efficiently and to company quality standards. The Senior lead delivers the ultimate client experience through strong leadership, coaching and training of Installers and technical guidance to lead hands and Installers while serving as the primary field resource for complex installations, training, quality control, and problem-solving. This position directs large teams of installers for installations to ensure timely completion, high quality of service and cost-effective management of labour and installation resources. This position represents McCrum’s and as a liaison to employees on the project. The Senior Lead Hand functions and works under the direction of, and may represent, the Project Manager on projects.
Key Tasks And Responsibilities
Lead and oversee complex furniture and interior installation projects
Coach Mentor, and develop Lead hands and installers, through hands-on training and field support.
Accountable as site representative, to resolve project issues with client, provide quality assurance and deliver exceptional customer service
Act as Liaison between field crews, operations, project management, and clients as required.
Ensure Installations meet manufacturer specification, company standards and client expectations.
Conduct site visits, quality expectations, field assessments to identify deficiencies and corrective actions.
Assist troubleshooting installation challenges, product issues, and site conditions.
Support workforce planning by providing feedback on employee performance, training needs, and skill development.
Effective communication with client to describe work plan, respond to inquiries and concerns as well as advise if any difficulties arise
Monitor workmanship productivity, professionalism, customer service standards across installation teams
Assist in the development and continuous improvement of installation procedures, training materials, and best practices.
Provide supervision for employees with consultation and approval of D&I Manager or Operations Manager
Complete all required paperwork related to installation life cycle
Delivery & Installation
Work with lead installers to achieve high quality installation following manufacturers’ specifications and blueprints, loading and unloading and site cleanup
Ensure lead hands resolve minor repairs on site as necessary
Maintain detailed and complete administrative records of installation project work
Mentor Lead hands in communicating and documenting project status, problems and punch-list to dispatch, sales personnel and sales support, and to project management personnel as needed
Health & Safety
Oversee leads and installers follow all applicable Health & Safety policies
Ensure leads work area is kept tidy and clear of debris
Monitor effective use of tools, lifting, no horseplay, etc.
Provide guidance and the appropriate forms in the event of a workplace injury in support of the health and safety administrator
Qualifications
Extensive experience in commercial furniture or similar work of interior installations.
Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
Excellent verbal and written skills to mentor and motivate team, as well as to maintain accuracy and quality of company standards
Advanced knowledge and working experience of installation methods, site coordination, material handling, and quality control. In a similar industry transferrable to this position
A commitment to excellence in maintaining accuracy, attention to detail and meeting established deadlines
Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times in order to maintain customer confidence while effectively dealing with complex issues
The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to read installation drawings, manufacturer specifications, and project documentation.
Solid knowledge of the use of hand tools required
A valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License is required
The ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects (in excess of 40lbs) in tight or awkward spaces is required
Previous experience in a leadership role is an asset
