Job Description

Internal Job Title: Director Corporate Procurement | Work Hours: Monday to Friday, standard hours

Job Status: Existing Vacancy

Position Overview

The Director of Corporate Procurement provides strategic leadership and enterprise‑wide direction for all procurement and sourcing activities. The role is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that deliver best value, manage risk, ensure compliance, and support organizational objectives. This position oversees supplier management, contract negotiations, policy development, and continuous improvement of procurement processes and systems.

The Director partners closely with executive leadership, business unit leaders, Finance, Legal, and Operations to ensure procurement practices are aligned with organizational priorities, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Maintain and advance corporate procurement strategy alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide expert advice to executive leadership on procurement trends, market conditions, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead enterprise sourcing initiatives to optimize cost, quality, sustainability, and service levels.

Governance, Policy & Compliance

  • Maintain and enhance procurement policies, procedures, and governance frameworks that ensure transparency, accountability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, trade agreements, ethical standards, and internal controls.
  • Oversee audit activities and implement corrective actions where required.

Supplier & Contract Management

  • Lead supplier selection, negotiation, and performance management processes.
  • Oversee high‑value, high‑risk, and strategic contracts from development through execution and renewal.
  • Build strong supplier relationships to promote innovation, value creation, and continuity of supply.

Financial & Risk Management

  • Deliver measurable cost savings and value‑for‑money outcomes while maintaining quality and service standards.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate procurement‑related risks, including supply chain disruptions and contractual exposures.
  • Collaborate with Finance to support budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure controls.

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing procurement team.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, continuous improvement, and ethical conduct.
  • Manage workforce planning, performance management, and succession planning within the procurement function.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Oversee procurement systems, tools, and data analytics to improve efficiency and reporting.
  • Champion process improvements, digital transformation, and best practices in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Monitor performance metrics and report on procurement outcomes to senior leadership.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Fluency in English (read, write, speak).
  • Able to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Secret/Reliability clearance.
  • University degree in Business Administration/Supply Chain Management/Finance or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and directly related procurement experience (e.g., 4 additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management, including senior leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, organization‑wide procurement initiatives.
  • Proven success negotiating high‑value contracts and managing supplier relationships at an enterprise level.
  • Able to work outside of standard business hours as required.
  • Able to travel 1-2 weeks/year (on average).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant professional designation (e.g., SCMP, CPSM, CPP, CPA).
