Position Summary GenCore Ltd. is seeking an experienced Project Designer – Utility Design to support the design and delivery of utility infrastructure projects within Light Rail Transit (LRT), transportation, telecommunications, and electrical utility environments. Reporting to the Project Manager, Utility Design, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing moderate to complex utility designs, coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering design packages. The ideal candidate will possess strong utility design experience, advanced AutoCAD capabilities, and a proven background supporting LRT and transportation infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities · Lead the creation of utility design drawings, quantity calculations, and as-built documentation of moderate to high complexity across telecommunications, electrical, and related utility infrastructure portfolios. · Assemble construction-ready design packages through the application of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other industry-recognized utility engineering platforms. · Advance utility relocation and coordination efforts within transportation and Light Rail Transit (LRT) corridors in alignment with project schedules and stakeholder commitments. · Work in partnership with Project Engineers to uphold design accuracy, technical quality, and conformance with applicable project requirements and standards. · Examine permit drawings, municipal standards, utility specifications, and stakeholder feedback, and integrate findings into ongoing design development. · Coordinate with Project Engineers, Field Inspectors, utility owners, municipalities, and contractors to identify, evaluate, and resolve technical and field-related issues. · Take an active role in design reviews, coordination meetings, and constructability assessments throughout the project lifecycle. · Direct the day-to-day execution of project schedules, deliverables, and assigned work packages, with guidance from senior project personnel. · Deliver project work within the approved budget and in accordance with established quality standards and acceptance criteria. · Maintain accurate records of project hours and contribute to effective budget governance. · Coach and develop Project Technicians in design fundamentals, drafting standards, and quality expectations to support team capability growth. · Identify and recommend improvements to design processes, workflows, technical standards, and overall project execution practices. · Carry out additional responsibilities, as assigned, to support the successful delivery of project objectives. · Minimum 3 years of direct LRT (Light Rail Transit) or major transportation infrastructure project experience · Proficient with AutoCAD software and experience customizing AutoCAD, scripts, tools, and Menu’s. · Experience with Autocad Civil 3D, BIM and Common Data Enviroments is considered an asset. · Proficient with the use of computers and software, including MS Office (Word, Excel). · Familiarity with the CSA standards is considered a strong asset. · Substantial understanding of reviewing electrical/civil engineering drawings and site plans. · Excellent safety and attendance record and previously demonstrated strong safety awareness. · Strong understanding of municipality standards. Compensation · Hourly Rate: $28 – $38 per hour
