Working within the City Clerk's Office business unit and reporting to the Assistant Director, Elections and Strategic Engagement division, this position provides strategic leadership, acts as a trusted corporate advisor, and oversees the end-to-end delivery of:
- Civic engagement programs;
- Council recognition events and services;
- Protocol services, and
- Corporate projects, inclusion, service improvement and partnerships initiatives.
This role carries a significant responsibility to represent The City of Calgary in a politically and culturally sensitive, positive, and professional manner, helping to uphold and enhance The City's respected public image.
The Leader, Civic Engagement and Protocol leads a small, dynamic team working collaboratively with division and business management teams and internal and external partners to advance the objectives of the City Clerk's Office.
Qualifications
- A degree in Public Administration, Communications, Business, Education, Journalism, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of related experience, including supervisory experience; experience working with partners and interested parties at all levels; public engagement; large-scale corporate event management; and protocol experience involving political dignitaries.
- Experience in project management or project coordination.
- Related certification in event management, protocol or public participation is considered an asset.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, think strategically, and lead and implement change. Strong organizational, decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Understanding effective team leadership principles and creative thinking.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

Workstyle
- This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

**Compensation:**Level M1 $115,627 - $144,534 per annum
**Hours of work:**Standard 35 hour work week
**Days of Work:**This position works a 5-day work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
**Location:**323, 7th Avenue S.E
