Position: Field Training Officer (FTO) – Campus Security
Location: Seneca Polytechnic (All Campuses, as required)
Employment Status: Full-Time
Hours: - Monday to Friday - 0800-1600 (Variable)
Pay Rate: - $22 - $23.50
Reports To: Security Program Manager

Position Overview

Your Impact
FTOs directly shape the quality and culture of the security team, ensuring every guard and leader is equipped for success on campus and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured onboarding and site-specific training to all newly hired security staff during their probationary period (first 90 days)
- Ensure completion of all required online training from both the security provider and Seneca Polytechnic
- Conduct scenario-based training aligned with current campus trends, risks, and recurring incidents
- Provide hands-on coaching, mentoring, and real-time corrective instruction
Evaluation & Performance Monitoring
- Conduct formal evaluations of trainees and document performance outcomes
- Track training progress and report KPI-related findings to the ECM
- Monitor employee performance during probation and flag deficiencies early
- Support supervisors during probationary reviews, post-incident assessments, and remedial training
Compliance & Readiness
- Ensure all guards are properly licensed, uniformed, and equipped with required PPE and tools
- Verify training compliance with contractual, legislative, and client requirements
- Report all training deficiencies, licensing issues, or compliance concerns to the ECM and Security Services Administrator
Operational Support & Collaboration
- Work proactively with Team Leads and Campus Supervisors to address training gaps and guard limitations
- Assist with training delivery during staffing constraints or operational surges
- Debrief major incidents and develop targeted training material to address identified gaps
- Report all health and safety concerns through appropriate administrative channels
Professional Standards
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding personnel matters, investigations, and sensitive information
- Represent the security program with professionalism and strong customer service skills
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of campus security operations
Qualifications & Requirement
- Minimum 2 years of security experience, preferably in a campus, institutional, or multi-site environment
- Legally Authorized to work in Canada
- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to coach, evaluate, and correct performance
Preferred
- Previous training, coaching, or supervisory experience
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- Experience with KPI tracking, evaluations, or training documentation
