The Costume Coordinator is responsible for supporting the day-to-day administration and operations of the Production Wardrobe Department. This role involves coordinating fittings, managing departmental communications, and assisting with record-keeping and documentation, ensuring the smooth execution of production wardrobe activities. Reporting to the Costume Director (or designate), the Costume Coordinator collaborates with Stage Management, Cutters, Crafts, Wigs, and other production teams to ensure costumes are prepared and maintained to the highest artistic and technical standards. This position also contributes to departmental organization, supports wardrobe staff with administrative and facility needs, and fosters a safe, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Act as liaison between the Production Wardrobe Department, Stage Management team, and other production departments for daily communications.
- Communicate directly with performers and agents to coordinate pre-rehearsal fittings.
- Coordinate with Cutters, Crafts, Wigs Show Heads, and the Production Stage Manager on daily fitting requests.
- Manage machine and non-machine maintenance requests for the Wardrobe Department and work with related departments and suppliers to complete these requests.
- Support the Costume Director and Heads of Wardrobe with departmental and show-related needs, including paperwork, fittings, and attending performances.
- Assist with departmental record-keeping and documentation, including training and support for the use of departmental iPads.
- Foster a caring, inclusive, and equitable work environment consistent with Stratford Festival values and policies.
- Adhere to the Stratford Festival Health & Safety Commitment and Procedures, and ensure that safe work practices and policies are supported and enforced within reporting structure.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma program, typically a two year program, or equivalent, (i.e. Community college, Technical Institute or Trade School, etc.) in wardrobe management, theatre administration, production, stage management, or costuming.
- 1 to 2 years of related experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel, and familiarity with cloud-based software such as Google Docs, AirTable, and iCloud.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience in theatrical costuming with an emphasis on wardrobe production, considered an asset.
- Knowledge of costume construction, costume history, and textiles, considered an asset.
- Previous experience in repertory theatre, or as a Head of Wardrobe or Stage Manager, or similar role in a related field, considered an asset.

This seasonal full-time posting is for an existing vacancy located in Stratford, Ontario and will begin immediately. This position requires the candidate to work onsite. Regular work hours for this position are Monday to Friday, but may require the candidate to work holiday and weekend hours as scheduled.

Salary Range: $43,742.40 - $49,712.00
