Reporting to the Operations Control Centre Manager, the job holder is responsible for the operations control centre of Toronto Pearson International Airport – YYZ. The role requires proven manager with a strong operational understanding and decision making experience.
Main accountabilities include:
- Ensure effective inter-department communication for day of operations.
- Communicate to Senior Management operational irregularities and impact.
- Prepare, and communicate daily operations summaries and host daily operational conference calls.
- Oversee day of allocation decisions according to operational schedules
- Provide oversight and direction for irregular operations handling, including the pre-planning for forecast events.
- Develop and oversee a team of direct report Operational Control Coordinators through feedback, mentoring, and performance management.
- Lead and oversee the various Operational Departments in the Operations Centre to ensure Menzies standards, and values are followed.
- Decision maker for operations.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
- 2 to 4 years management experience in the Airport Ground Handling Business.
- A proven track record in managing an operational department.
- Experience in operational planning and resource allocation.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- Must be able to hold and maintain all required security clearances.
- Able to work with a multi-cultural team and to adjust to the station environment.
- Good knowledge of the IATA Standard Ground Handling Agreement.
- Drive for continuous improvement and process development of the business
Other Requirements:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and legally able to work in Canada.
- Computer literate, solid knowledge of MS Office as well as other related programs
- Previous airline/aviation operational knowledge is required.
- Extensive experience in Ground Handling and good understanding.
- Must be able to obtain and hold all required security clearances.
- Familiar with GOMs, Airline procedures, Airport procedures, Airport legislations
- Fully versed on International Aviation Safety and Security standards and passionate about promoting them within the organisation.
- KPI/SLA driven to meet customer expectations by delivering excellence
