Job Title: Telecommunications Operator
Status: Casual Part Time

Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends - 8 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change)
Location: Lakeridge Health Oshawa
Wage Schedule: $27.710 - $29.050 per hour

The Telecommunications Operator will be responsible for providing exemplary customer service in conjunction with Lakeridge Health's core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answer and redirect incoming calls on the main switchboard and locating lines; Page on-call staff members in accordance with 24hr on call schedules; Implement all emergency code response while adhering to hospital policies and procedures; operate various features and capabilities of the consoles; activating the Paging System; Activate Pagers for on-call use as per policies in place; Perform data entry using Microsoft Office & Google Sheets; Assist with the orientation and training of new staff as assigned; Manage personal and communal e-mail inbox and respond to requests; Execute excellent call management and customer service skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
" Recent related multiple line switchboard operating experience, utilizing CISCO VOIP telephone equipment or other related Telecommunications consoles within a health care environment preferred
" Ability to operate all equipment in the department proficiently (switchboard console, locating phone, emergency phone lines, overhead PA paging system, pagers)
" Demonstrated keyboarding skills (30wpm tested)
" Proven knowledge and competency of Hospital and departmental policies with the ability to carry out all emergency procedures
" Effective communication and interpersonal skills
" Ability to work in an enclosed environment within close proximity to co-workers
" Demonstrated organization and independent skills with the ability to prioritize workload
" Ability to be detailed oriented
" Proven ability to work with minimal supervision with frequent interruptions in a busy/stressful environment
" Knowledge of Medical Terminology an asset;
" Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
