About the role
Who we are
Skjodt-Barrett is a world-class manufacturer of food solutions and custom ingredients for North America's most beloved and trusted brands. We take pride in working closely with our customers to understand their unique needs and create innovative, individualized solutions that deliver joy to their customers.
A family-founded company started over 40 years ago, we are backed by the investment company Axel Johnson Inc (AJI). With their investment and support, we are well-positioned to foster growth and explore new opportunities.
Our customers, blue-chip international brands and mid-sized producers alike, are why we exist. Our teams of innovators, communicators, and managers are the people who meet their needs, build trust, and exceed their expectations.
Who we need
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, we are looking for a Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to oversee the movement of materials in and out of our Brampton facility. You will manage daily shipping, receiving, and inventory activities, ensuring accuracy, organization, and compliance with food safety and quality standards. You will lead a team of six across two shifts, coordinating schedules, coaching team members, and supporting a smooth flow of operations from dock to production.
This is a salaried, on-site position working Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with paid overtime and one Saturday per month as needed.
What’s in it for you
Knowledge. You want a role where you can deepen your understanding of warehouse operations and the flow of materials that support large-scale food manufacturing. You will gain valuable exposure to inventory management, ERP systems, vendor coordination, and the broader supply chain that connects production to delivery.
Stability. You want to be part of an established organization with brand-name clients and a plan for continued growth. You will work in a safe, well-organized environment with long, incident-free streaks, supported by clear guidelines, training, and processes that prioritize the safety and success of every team member.
Career development. At Skjodt-Barrett, we value your drive to bring ideas to life and your resilience in being accountable for your actions. We have a proven track record of supporting our employees' professional development and career growth. The last two individuals in this role were both promoted within the organization. Whether you are interested in moving into planning, purchasing, or exploring other areas of supply chain and operations, we are committed to supporting your growth and helping you achieve your career goals.
How you will make an impact:
- Lead daily warehouse operations. You will oversee the day-to-day flow of materials - from receiving and shipping to transfers and dock activities - ensuring accuracy, organization, and efficiency in every process. You will supervise a team of six across two shifts (days and afternoons), fostering alignment and clear communication between teams.
- Drive accuracy and accountability. You will manage weekly and monthly inventory reporting, conduct cycle counts, and investigate material variances to maintain precise records. You will also support annual audits and assist with administrative documentation to ensure compliance and transparency.
- Champion safety and performance. You will train, coach, and evaluate team members to uphold Skjodt-Barrett’s high standards of safety, quality, and performance. You will plan schedules, coordinate coverage, and guide employees toward continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Own inventory and material control. You will manage vendor-supplied inventory, purchase orders, and the full Destruction of Material Request (DOMR) process from initiation to completion. You will support customers and internal teams with material or system investigations, ensuring timely resolution and exceptional service.
- Foster collaboration and improvement. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline warehouse operations, reduce inefficiencies, and build a culture of teamwork and problem-solving that supports overall plant success.
What you bring:
- The experience. You have hands-on experience as a Shift or Warehouse Supervisor, ideally in a food manufacturing or distribution environment. You understand the flow of materials, the rhythm of operations, and how to keep teams and processes running smoothly from receiving to shipping.
- The technical acumen. You bring strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills, including running queries, using VLOOKUPs, and analyzing data through Power BI. You are comfortable navigating ERP systems such as Dynamics 365 to interpret data, track performance, and support decision-making.
- The analytical mindset. You think critically about numbers, patterns, and processes, connecting the dots between data and outcomes. You see how every action on the floor influences downstream operations, and you use that insight to make informed, strategic decisions that keep the warehouse running smoothly.
- The leadership. You are a hands-on, supportive leader who builds trust and accountability. You coach and motivate your team to perform at their best, ensuring consistency and collaboration across shifts.
- The communication skills. You are clear, proactive, and dependable in how you share information. You keep others informed, align priorities across departments, and foster a culture of transparency and teamwork that drives operational success.
