About the role

Technology Support Specialist (Part-Time, On-Call)

Location: Toronto, Richmond Hill, Markham & Vaughan (GTA)

Compensation: $50/hour Hours: Approximately 1–5 hours per month (as needed), with opportunities to grow as Silver Wizard expands.

About Silver Wizard

Silver Wizard is Toronto’s trusted technology support service for older adults looking to navigate the digital world with confidence.

Through patient, personalized one-on-one support, we help older adults use technology safely, stay connected with family and friends, and make the most of today’s essential digital tools.

In addition to in-home and remote technology support, Silver Wizard hosts free community tech support clinics at retirement residences, condominiums, and community centres across the Greater Toronto Area.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Technology Support Specialist to join our team.

About the Role

This is a part-time, on-call position supporting our community technology clinics and special events. You’ll work directly with older adults, helping them troubleshoot technology issues, answer questions, and build confidence using their devices.

This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people, loves technology, and is passionate about making a positive impact in their community.

You can typically expect 1–2 events per month, with approximately 1–3 hours of work each month. As Silver Wizard grows, there will be opportunities for additional hours and expanded responsibilities.

What We’re Looking For

We’re not looking for a specific degree or years of professional experience—we’re looking for the right person.

You are

Passionate about technology. You love learning about new devices, stay up to date with the latest technology, and enjoy solving technical problems. Patient and customer-focused. You remain calm under pressure, enjoy helping others, and genuinely care about creating a positive experience. Previous customer service experience is an asset. An excellent communicator. You can explain technical concepts in a simple, friendly, and easy-to-understand way. Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Additional language skills are considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Provide in-person support at Silver Wizard community technology clinics and events. Help older adults troubleshoot smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other everyday technology. Answer technology questions with patience, professionalism, and empathy. Build confidence by teaching clients how to use their devices—not just fixing the problem for them. Represent Silver Wizard in a friendly, professional, and approachable manner. Assist with other event-related tasks as needed.

Requirements

Must be located in the Greater Toronto Area (Toronto, Richmond Hill, Markham, Vaughan, or surrounding communities). Comfortable using a wide range of consumer technology, including smartphones, tablets, computers, and common operating systems (iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Android, and Windows). Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Fluency in spoken and written English. Legally eligible to work in Canada. Able to successfully complete a criminal record check if required. Reliable transportation to attend community events is considered an asset.

Bonus Points

We’re building something special. If you’re excited about helping grow Silver Wizard into the world’s leading technology support provider for older adults, we’d love to hear from you.

We don’t like cover letters, but bonus points for including a few short sentences on why you’re the best person for this role and why you’re interested in joining us.

How to Apply

Interested candidates can apply directly or send their resume to info@silverwizard.ca.

Only qualified applicants will be contacted.

Founded in 2025

Silver Wizard is a tech-support and tutoring service designed to make technology feel simple, friendly, and even a little magical for older adults. We understand that while smartphones, tablets, and computers have become essential parts of daily life, not everyone feels confident navigating the digital world. That’s where we come in.

Our mission is to bridge the gap between modern technology and the people who rely on it. Through patient one-on-one guidance, in-home visits, remote support, and personalized lessons, we help older adults feel empowered, capable, and independent with their devices. From setting up new phones to troubleshooting apps, managing passwords, organizing photos, connecting with loved ones, or learning new digital skills, we turn confusion into confidence — one magical moment at a time.

At Silver Wizard, we believe technology should work for people, not frustrate them. Our approachable team brings expertise, empathy, and a touch of wizardry to every interaction, transforming challenges into opportunities for connection and ease. With us, clients gain more than tech help — they gain confidence, comfort, and a trusted guide in their digital journey.
