Job Summary
The Faculty of Computer Science ( FCS ) offers degrees tailored to match individual interests in a high-tech discipline at the forefront of innovation. Staff work with faculty members to help build a foundation for student success as students prepare, through academics and research, for a career in one of the world’s hottest growth industries. Reporting to the Academic Programs Manager, the Graduate Administrator will provide administrative support for the graduate programs offered by the Faculty of Computer Science.
Key Responsibilities
Process graduate applications by collecting and reviewing required documentation, assessing eligibility under established guidelines, calculating GPAs, tracking application status, and supporting admission decisions. Maintain graduate student records and provide administrative support for graduate programs, including forms processing, filing, committee support, orientation coordination, room bookings, and deadline tracking. Respond to inquiries from applicants, students, faculty, staff, Graduate Studies, the Registrar’s Office, and external agencies regarding application processes, program requirements, funding, and related administrative matters. Advise graduate students on program requirements, academic policies, deadlines, supervisor selection, degree audit requirements, and other routine program matters. Coordinate the Master of Applied Computer Science interview process, including scheduling interviews, communicating with applicants and interviewers, monitoring timelines, and uploading interview results. Support graduate scholarship administration by sharing scholarship information with students, assisting with candidate ranking and application forms, preparing award documentation, and supporting transparent allocation of scholarship funding.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Business Administration/Administrative Professionals program, with approximately five years’ relevant experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience). Demonstrated excellence in service and intercultural competence, as well as strong communication (verbal and written) skills. Must demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy while working under minimal supervision in a busy office environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, with demonstrated ability to work with and learn various software.
Assets
Experience within a university or post-secondary environment.
