About The Role
We’re looking for a strong Commercial Account Associate to support our professional liabilities accounts in Toronto. This role involves working closely with the Senior Vice President of the Professional Liabilities team and requires someone who is responsive, has strong time management skills, and has good knowledge of professional liability insurance. This is an ideal role for someone with strong technical and systems experience.
What You’ll Do
- Day-to-day activities for clients and prospects
- File management, and preparation of client renewal packages (certificates, summaries, etc.)
- Timely issuance of submissions, binders, summaries, policies, etc.
- Effective communication with clients and third parties; i.e., answering client inquiries and communicating with insurance companies
- Effective management of the abeyance system
- Negotiation and use of EPIC
- Minimizing Daily Sales Outstanding (DSO) to HUB standards
- Preparing for and participating in client meetings in support of Account Manager
What You’ll Need for Success
- Valid RIBO license, or willingness to obtain in short order
- Typically, 2+ years of commercial insurance experience
- Experience in market negotiations on commercial policies is an asset
- Strong aptitude to learn new risks along with a desire to keep up to date with emerging trends
- Results-oriented and passionate, with a strong sense of accountability and client management skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organization and prioritization skills
- Solid team player who also possesses independence of thought
- Proactive client-focused approach with effective negotiation and follow-up skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel (formulas and pivot tables), PowerPoint and Outlook
- Experience with Applied EPIC or similar insurance broker management systems

The compensation for this position is a variable compensation structure, i.e., base salary plus commission. As such, the total compensation earned will vary depending on the successful candidate’s book of business at a particular time. The expected base salary for this position is $45,000 to $60,000*, plus commissions will be paid based on successful sales performance. The total compensation will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages which could include extended health benefits, disability insurance, RRSP matching, paid-time-off benefits, and eligible bonuses for some positions.*
