Make your mark while you grow your career! Canadian Natural is seeking a Government Affairs Advisor to support the company’s engagement with federal, provincial, and municipal governments. This role provides strategic policy and government relations support to advance Canadian Natural’s business objectives within a complex and evolving regulatory and political environment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong policy analysis capabilities, sound judgment, and a proven ability to build effective relationships with government partners and internal stakeholders. This individual brings relevant industry experience, can confidently manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment, and approaches work with natural curiosity. They possess the ability to distill complex concepts into clear, accessible messages for internal audiences and serve as a trusted technical subject matter expert for business communications.
-**Job location:**Calgary, Alberta -**Shift schedule:**5 x 2, 8-hour shifts -**Safety sensitive position:**No -Application deadline: April 13, 2026
Key Accountabilities:
- Monitor and analyze federal and provincial policy, regulatory, and political developments, evaluating risks and opportunities to Canadian Natural’s business plan, and translating implications into clear, concise and business focused advice for senior leaders
- Support government relations strategies aligned with corporate objectives by preparing clear, concise, data ‑ informed presentations and speaking points with actionable recommendations
- Experience with lobbyist reporting, including a strong understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements, ensuring accurate filings and ongoing compliance with all applicable lobbying laws and standards
- Coordinate advocacy efforts by actively engaging with industry associations and external partners, aligning shared priorities and serving as a trusted advisor to internal cross-functional teams
- Utilize and maintain database management tools to support issue tracking and provide timely, accurate internal reporting to stakeholders and management committees
What You Bring to the Role:
- Undergraduate degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Economics, or a related field
- Progressive experience in government affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs, or a political environment
- Strong understanding of Canadian federal, provincial and municipal government processes
- Knowledge of the energy or natural resources sector is considered an asset
- Proven ability to oversee internal process to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment
