About the role
YMCA's Back on Track program provides youth with a supportive space to build confidence, develop life skills, and strengthen their connection to school and community. Through individualized support, group programming, and meaningful relationships, the program helps students overcome barriers to school engagement and create a successful path forward.
As a Back on Track Support Facilitator, you will work alongside the Lead Facilitator to provide direct support to youth participating in the program. You will help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where participants can build resilience, develop positive peer relationships, and work toward their educational and personal goals.
QUICK FACTS
- Compensation: $19.22 per hour, plus membership to Y facilities
- Reporting to: Manager, Community Programs
- Location: Rutland BGC (355 Hartman Rd)
- Schedule: Part-Time, 20 hours per week
- End Date: March 2027

As a Support Facilitator, you will play an important role in helping participants feel seen, supported, and capable of success. Through encouragement, mentorship, and meaningful relationships, you will contribute to positive outcomes for youth, families, schools, and the broader community.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a Back on Track Support Facilitator, you will:
- Support the delivery of daily program activities that promote school engagement, life skills development, and personal growth.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with youth participating in the program.
- Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where youth feel respected and supported.
- Assist participants in developing confidence, self-awareness, resilience, and positive peer connections.
- Support youth through challenges related to school engagement, self-esteem, peer relationships, and personal development.
- Collaborate with the Lead Facilitator to deliver workshops, activities, and individualized supports.
- Communicate professionally with families, school personnel, and community partners as required.
- Help monitor participant progress and contribute to program documentation and reporting.
- Support referrals and connections to community resources when appropriate.
- Represent the YMCA and Back on Track program in a positive and professional manner.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A genuine passion for helping youth reach their full potential.
- Post-secondary education in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Education, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of youth development, trauma-informed practice, and strengths-based approaches.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to build rapport and maintain healthy professional boundaries.
- Capacity to remain calm, flexible, and solution-focused in challenging situations.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer systems.
- Ability to maintain participant confidentiality and professionalism.
