Responsibilities
The Post Award Officer provides support to researchers at Laurentian University by assisting with the post-award administration of research grants and contracts. The position is responsible for drafting, reviewing, and advising on terms and conditions for research agreements with academic partners, funding agencies, private sponsors, and charities. The role serves as the office of record for all faculty awards, prepares internal and external funding reports, and ensures accurate data management. Responsibilities also include supporting the Research Ethics Board and Animal Care Committee.
- Draft, review, and advise on terms and conditions of research agreements with academic partners, funding agencies, private sponsors and charities;
- Serve as the office of record for all awards made to faculty members. Prepare reports on funding received for internal and external purposes. Manage accurate recording of information in databases, file systems, and/or records;
- Monitor and facilitate compliance to all applicable regulations and requirements;
- Support the Research Ethics Board and the Animal Care Committee as required;
- Advise principle investigators and project personnel during the period of the award regarding their obligations under the terms and conditions of the award;
- Work with the finance team on budget changes, extension requests and transfers;
- Monitor and coordinate the submission of project reports according to the terms of the award; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- University Degree in relevant field;
- Three (3) to Five(5) years of experience working in a university research setting, in other organizations that perform research, in research funding agencies or in a capacity that is concerned with human resources, financial and ethical issues;
- Understand regulations and guidelines related to various funding agencies;
- Develop a working knowledge of policies, university allowable cost policies and the fundamentals of sponsored academic research;
- Working knowledge of research grant and contract processes, and regulations regarding research;
- Financial planning and budgeting skills;
- Strong analytical skills; ability to recognize trends and to analyze performance data;
- Demonstrated ability to develop training materials and facilitate presentations;
- Ability to coach, mentor, and inform faculty, staff, and students on project management; and
- Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.
The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
