Overview
The Marking/Teaching Assistant will support faculty and students by assisting with course delivery, student evaluations, and learning activities in both classroom and lab settings.
Responsibilities
- Meet regularly with faculty and students regarding grades, course content, and other matters as needed
- Assist in evaluating student work using criteria established by supervising faculty
- Collaborate with faculty and academic staff to support the University’s educational goals and objectives
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all members of the University community and its facilities
- Support teaching by demonstrating nursing knowledge and skills in classroom or lab settings
- Provide tutoring to students
- Mark course evaluation activities (e.g., quizzes, tests, assignments, exams, etc.)
- Support course activities on D2L as required
Qualifications
- Nursing knowledge and an undergraduate degree
- Demonstrated understanding of pedagogy (course preparation, teaching methods, evaluation standards, etc.)ESL training considered an asset
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Knowledge of and commitment to healthy and safe work practices
- Previous teaching assistance experience at the post-secondary level
