Qualifications & Duties:

• Committed to being a model and witness to Christ-centered education values and beliefs.

• Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit for the benefit of all students, and support the Division's goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation.

• Possess a Bachelor of Education and valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.

• College Certificate in Catholic Education is considered an asset.

• Major or Minor in Physical Education.

• Experience in a Division 2 setting is considered an asset.

• Training and experience in Cheer and Dance (multiple disciplines) is preferred.

• Coaching/Instructor Certification in Cheer, Gymnastics and/or Dance is an asset.

• Skill and experience working with other coaches is an asset.

• Skilled at and excited to work with students from Grades 4-9 in large and small groupings.

• Close communication with the Sports Academy Administrator and Sports Academy staff, other coaches, parents, and teachers in Academy schools is required.

• Energetic and passionate about promoting and implementing this program.

• Experience working with children who have diverse learning needs and who require specialized accommodations and strategies to support those needs.

• Experience in using specific proactive strategies such as visual supports, sensory supports, and positive behavior support and communication strategies.

• Experience with the implementation of Individual Program Plans (IPP's).

• Good interpersonal skills working closely with families.

• Strong focus on literacy and numeracy. Experience/Interest in using various technology tools to assist learning (e.g. SmartBoards and iPads).
