Qualifications & Duties:

Committed to being a model and witness to Christ-centered education values and beliefs.

Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit for the benefit of all students, and support the Division's goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation.

Possess a Bachelor of Education and valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
-
College Certificate in Catholic Education is considered an asset.
-
Major or Minor in Physical Education.
-
Experience in a Division 2 setting is considered an asset.
-
Training and experience in Cheer and Dance (multiple disciplines) is preferred.
-
Coaching/Instructor Certification in Cheer, Gymnastics and/or Dance is an asset.
-
Skill and experience working with other coaches is an asset.
-
Skilled at and excited to work with students from Grades 4-9 in large and small groupings.
-
Close communication with the Sports Academy Administrator and Sports Academy staff, other coaches, parents, and teachers in Academy schools is required.
-
Energetic and passionate about promoting and implementing this program.
-
Experience working with children who have diverse learning needs and who require specialized accommodations and strategies to support those needs.
-
Experience in using specific proactive strategies such as visual supports, sensory supports, and positive behavior support and communication strategies.

Experience with the implementation of Individual Program Plans (IPP's).

Good interpersonal skills working closely with families.
-
Strong focus on literacy and numeracy. Experience/Interest in using various technology tools to assist learning (e.g. SmartBoards and iPads).
