Job Description:
Department Overview
Corporate Insurance Management is responsible for arranging risk-appropriate insurance, as required and where economically and strategically viable, to protect the Bank’s businesses from adverse impacts of risk events. Such impacts are mainly financial but may also include a non-financial reputational component.
Along with procuring insurance or other similar risk transfer programs (including fronting arrangements and indemnity agreements) to offset the cost of risk, CI also manages claims and losses against the various programs.
CI also acts as a centre of expertise providing insurance guidance as follows:
- Consultation during RFPs or contract negotiations to determine what constitutes risk-appropriate insurance and indemnity requirements for the specific types of products or services involved with a third-party.
- Participation in Merger & Acquisition activities as required throughout the various stages of a prospective acquisition or divestiture to ensure there is an appropriate strategic insurance response and to minimize the insurable risk impact on the Bank.
Key Responsibilities
Insurance Acquisition & Renewal
- Support the end-to-end renewal and procurement process for a portfolio of corporate insurance policies, including financial lines, cyber, property, liability, crime, and specialty programs.
- Assist in developing renewal strategies, preparing underwriting submissions, reviewing quotes, and supporting negotiations.
- Work closely with external brokers and underwriters to manage timelines, data requests, and required documentation.
- Coordinate the collection, validation, and consolidation of underwriting information from business units, risk partners, and subject matter experts.
- Maintain accurate records, templates, and processes to support consistent and timely delivery of underwriting packages.
- Manage exposure and loss data inputs required for renewal analysis.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a key point of contact for internal partners (Risk, Finance, Legal, Technology, Operations) to ensure clarity on insurance requirements, data needs, and renewal milestones.
- Facilitate communication between internal teams and brokers/insurers, ensuring alignment and timely resolution of information gaps.
Analytical Support & Coverage Assessment
- Review exposure data, scenario analysis outputs, market intelligence, and benchmarking information to support coverage recommendations.
- Prepare coverage comparisons, renewal summaries, and other analytics to assist in program design decisions.
- Identify trends, gaps, and areas for optimization based on analysis.
Documentation, Reporting & Governance
- Prepare briefing materials, policy summaries, certificates, and renewal documentation for management review and governance forums.
- Maintain organized records of policies, endorsements, and key documents in alignment with internal controls.
- Support compliance with the Corporate Insurance Risk Framework and associated standards.
Skills & Qualifications
Required
- 3–6 years of experience in commercial insurance, corporate insurance management, brokerage, or underwriting.
- Solid understanding of major commercial insurance lines (e.g., D&O, E&O, Crime, Cyber, Property, Liability).
- Experience coordinating underwriting submissions or managing insurance renewals.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with exposure data, scenario analysis, benchmarking, and broker analytics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and general data-handling tools.
- High attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred
- Experience working in a large, complex organization, particularly in financial services.
- Experience interacting with senior stakeholders and external brokers/insurers.
