PositionOverview
The Nisga'a School District is seeking a Math and Science Teacher to work with students at Nisga'a Secondary School. The assignment is primarily focused on Grade 8/9 Math and Science programming; however, additional courses may be assigned based on student enrollment and school needs. The role is carried out within a learning environment grounded in culture, community, and connection to the land and includes contributing to reconciliation through respectful integration of Nisga'a and Indigenous perspectives in teaching and learning, supported through collaboration, professional learning, and relationships with community.
KeyResponsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned with BC curriculum and learning standards
- Use assessment to inform instruction and support learner growth over time
- Create inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environments that support the wellbeing and success of all learners
- Build positive, respectful relationships with learners, families, and colleagues
- Engage in professional learning and collaborative practices to support effective teaching and learning
RequiredQualifications
- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligibility)
- Legally permitted to work in Canada
- Experience delivering instruction in Physical and Health Education
- Knowledge of the BC Curriculum, including learning standards and core competencies
PreferredAttributes
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship‑building skills
- Socially responsive practice that supports student wellbeing
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice
- Confident use of technology to support teaching, learning, and communication
Compensation******& **Incentives
- Competitive salary aligned with the BCTF salary grid
- Provincial Signing Bonus (amount varies by school and is subject to eligibility and availability)
- Recruitment & Retention Allowance
- Access to affordable, partially furnished staff housing (subject to availability, $350–$600 per month)
- Moving allowance
- Mentoring and instructional coaching
