We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Manager, Disability Programs and Wellness to join our People team in Langley, BC. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Benefits, Pension & Disability, you will be responsible for creating, leading, and continually enhancing the Disability Management Program, with a strong focus on prevention, recovery, and the overall well-being of our team members. You will lead a large, diverse team aligned to the program’s vision and goals responsible for accommodations and occupational and non-occupational claims management. You will provide ongoing mentorship, guidance, and development to support a team serving nearly 30,000 Pattison Food Group (PFG) team members. PFG has multiple benefit (STD, LTD) and pension plans, various collective bargaining agreements, and store banners across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Yukon. You will be responsible for: Creating, leading, and implementing the overall strategy and vision for PFG’s Disability Program, which focuses on abilities and return to work/stay at work. Continually evolving the strategy to ensure it remains best-in-class and reflects current leading practices. Leading the organization’s duty to accommodate and return-to-work (RTW) programs. Managing and developing the accommodations, occupational and non-occupational return to work team, ensuring effective processes, accurate case management, and consistent audit practices. Promoting the team’s growth, development and learning in alignment with the wellness strategy. Leading and managing relationships with external partners (e.g., WorkSafe/WCB, insurance carriers, health professionals), to ensure a return-to-work focus / prevention, decrease duration and costs, and increase team member overall well-being and recovery. Monitoring and analyzing claims data and trends using tools such as Workday and ServiceNow to improve operations, support team members, and enhance program outcomes. Partnering closely with the Health & Safety team to support injury prevention initiatives, RTW outcomes, and programs such as COR (BC) and PIR (AB). Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment, consistency, and continuous improvement across disability management programs. You have: A post-secondary degree in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, human resources, or disability management) or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3+ years’ experience managing complex disability claims, across union and non-union environments. 3+ years’ leadership experience. Strong knowledge of duty to accommodate, employment/labour legislation /law, and Human Rights Codes, with demonstrated application in disability management and accommodation practices. Experience working with WorkSafeBC/WCB (AB, SK, MB, YT) and disability insurance practices. Proven skills in conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation, including experience working within a unionized setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Workday and ServiceNow is an asset. Knowledge of medical terminology. Experience as an HR Business Partner or HR Manager is an asset. You are: Self-aware, empathetic and possess a high-level of Emotional Intelligence (EQ). A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. Able to manage information with a high degree of tact and confidentiality. Motivated by results with a passion for driving improvement. Independent and proactive with the ability to thrive in a team environment. Detailed with strong organizational skills. Resilient, creative and an analytical problem solver.
